I thought I would post a quick tutorial on how to make a Barney parody, Twisted Critters style... (someone asked a while back).

He is a little more difficult to make (intermediate twisting skills).

Hope you enjoy!

Patricia

File comment: Make a basic hat from a 260 in purple. If you stretch the balloon after you've inflated it you can get a higher arch for the hat. Twist off a 2 inch bubble at the front of the hat base. This bubble will become the back of his head.

Steps 2-4.

File comment: Inflate another purple 260 leaving about a 6 inch tip (sorry you can figure out the conversion for cm).

File comment: With the attached 260 make a 2" bubble, a 1" bubble and finish with a bubble slightly larger than the 2" bubble and twist in at top of the bubble on the arch of the hat base. This cluster will become the top of his nose as well as the bottom of his mouth.

Steps 5-7

Attachments:
File comment: Make about a 3 or 4 inch bubble and twist in at the base. This forms one side of his face.

File comment: Form three - 2” bubbles and lock twist them. Wedge the bottom of his mouth in this new cluster.

File comment: Make another bubble for the other side of his face. Discard the remaining balloon. Tie a knot so it doesn’t deflate.

Inflate another purple 260 leaving about a 6” tip. And attach it at the same point where you just left off.

Make the top of his mouth by creating 3 bubbles slightly larger than the cluster you made for the bottom of his mouth. Wedge the top of his nose in this new cluster. Now create two 4” loops to form his eye sockets. Discard any remaining balloon.

Steps 8-10

File comment: Inflate a white 160 about half way. Form a small loop followed by a 1 inch bubble and another loop the same as the first. These will become his eyes.

File comment: Now make a very soft bubble and stretch it very tightly around and under the cluster we made for his nose. This is the top set of his teeth.
