Hi all,
Here comes the first challenge on the forum which is to make a bird,
if we all put on our seperate ideas as the month progresses the birds can evolve?
As soon as I've sorted out my picture sizing I'll join in.
So who's going to be first to post :D
Graham Lee
Ok here is a bird I just made up... not desperately original but hopefully it will get the ball rolling!
Mark,
Thanks for being the first to post, in the sweepstake I had Dave down to post first
That reminds me I made a parrot for a fancy dress parade a couple of weeks ago.
I'll see if I can hunt out a picture.
Graham Lee
It looks like a woodpecker with that beak to me!
I discovered that I don't have pictures of birds except this one, so here it is.
I will make a bird as soon as I can. Does a penguin qualifies as a bird? It does, doesn't it?
I've been working on this the head was inspired by patrick on mbd2.
Dave ,
Your bird is very nice!
I made this vulture at least five years ago.
The head & kneck perhaps should be pink?
Sorry cant seem to post the picture as I keep getting
"The extension bmp is not allowed"
Will try later, although I'm away to lecture in Birmingham tonight & Doncaster tomorrow,
so wont be able to post till friday night.
Graham Lee
Well after emailing the picture to myself I can now post it.
These computers are a mystery to me.
The lady in the photo is Rie Hosokai, the lady that makes all the wonderful dresses.
The duck is a variation of mine when I was lecturing at TMJ.
So again after emailing this to myself I can post it,
this was made about 5 years ago.
right never done this before so fingers crossed
here is my bird just come up with for this half way though i could of made a new plane as well

Craig,
Great bird, I'm liking this topic & forum already.
But then I could be biased.

This is a Chicken I learnt from Bonnie's pdf so don't know if I should put it in here as it's called "twist your own version".
Hang on it is my own as I added feet to it as it was a hat ;)
I was a bit bored this afternoon so started to twist a bird with no thought of the finished outcome,
not sure exactly what it is. No doubt we will get some helpful suggestions?
It's my mother in law!!
Well she's got very skinny legs :o

8-)
I often make a penguin and love your idea of adding a bow tie Fairby, just a simple little extra like that can make it look a whole lot better. Do you mind if I pinch your idea :) My penguin is totally different to yours, I just want to draw the little extra.
Billy
Just a quick 1, 160 parrot like bird.
And here is my quick designed funny bird.
I used 2 260 for this one and some scrap.

I have more ideas, and really like to try them out but they must wait,....
I have to do some cleaningwork in my house now!!!
Must stop ballooning.......!
(well at least for the moment then, will pick it up later ;))
Petra
Petra,
Your "funny bird" was so nice I stopped what I was doing to make a variation.
Will take a picture & post it later.
Graham Lee
Here is a slight variation of Petra's bird, which is lovely & very usable.
Thank You.
Graham Lee
So, I came back to post a second version of my funny bird,....and I saw your reply Graham.
Thank you for the kind words.
Funny to see that you changed the belly. After I finished the post of my first bird, I saw that I didn't liked the belly and thought about doing it the way you also did it. So my second version has a belly like that also.
When I last spoke to Wim, I was busy trying to make animals out of 2 balloons, and use some scrap to add details.
My idea was to start with 2 balloons at once. I make a cat like that for a long time now and thought it could be done with more animals. So I also made a dog and a bunny that way. With that idea in mind I designed my new birds. That way they are pretty quick to make and still impressive!
(does this make sence?? It's so easy to explain in dutch, but in englisch...... )

Here is my grandson off to a fancy dress party a couple of weeks ago, I did make two birds,
hats, guns & swords but my camera went funny & deleted & my daughter only took a few pictures.
Graham Lee
I made this bird a couple of months ago.

Petra
Petra,
That's a nice simple & usable design.
Graham Lee
Mick has asked me to post his three birds as he's having trouble putting them on.
They needed to be resized, listen to me the computer geek :geek:

It may help you, if not just post the problems your having getting the picture on & we'll all try to help out.
Graham Lee
