Hi I am a balloon decorator(CBA) but I would now like to learn how to twist so that i could add this to my decor, will there be any twisting days coming up in Glasgow in 2010 also I would appreciate if anyone can advise me of any books or dvds that i could purchase for a total beginner so that I could start practicing at home.

Thanks
Roseann

Hi Roseanne,   I am also a learner and I bought the three e books from Thelma -  I found them very doable -   also there are the tutorials on here that I found helpful.

Will post Thelmas email address here shortly.

Also Graham Lee has dvd's for sale on this web site as well.

Good luck,  people are very friendly on this forum and will help you as you go along.

Back in a mim once I have Thelmas details.

roseanne, keep an eye open for qjams, via qualatex site. the venue at bishops stortford is 5 mins from stansted - so if there are cheap flights on offer it might actually be quite cheap - the qjams are free.

i agree re grahams dvd's and thelmas cd's. they are very useful, i was weened on bob woodings balloon video but didnt do anything for years until i started up again, just for fun, mainly 'encouraged' by sites such as this one (thanks graham!), both graham and thelma are really friendly and helpful, though they do drink lots of FREE coffee at blackpool lol!!

best idea is to buy a couple of bags of 260's and get going, dont worry about getting the colours perfect straight away, its about getting the shape/size right and not worrying about the colour at this stage!!!

best wishes

I really think when you are a beginner, the best things is to attend a few jams and see if anyone will take you "under their wing" and help you with a few little tricks of the trade.

My son and I are working on a series of DVD's.  His are for the advanced, and mine are for beginners, although there will be some stuff for those who are more advanced also.

I am hoping that Graham will carry them so that it is easier for those of you in England to get them.

I don't believe in starting my employees off with the traditional one balloon animals; I start everyone off with the big, easy and impressive.
If you want to get lots of jobs and make yourself stand out from other twisters, clowns, and magicians, you need to do the extrodinary things.

Happy 2010! and Happy Twisting!!!!!!
