hi just got my first BOC bottle (T) of helium.
when I put my regulator on it all a bit cramp, is it possible to take the  blue collar off the bottle it looks like you can loosen the nut behind. but didn't want to have anything flying off under pressure
have a picture to explain

Would it not be best to phone BOC? or on the news we might hear of a rocket launched into space from the UK.

 Just fell of my chair laughing at the thought of more UFO's!!!
Sorry..seriously I believe it is a protective collar to help prevent damage to dispensing valve.
But you shouldn't have to remove it. - Grahams advice stands.

 Sorry forgot to add, if it is in the way when trying to get the regulator on, you can loosen it and twist it round... I often get Air Product Bottles that have the collar so loose that is twists of its own accord part way...(helps to see the valve and read the pressure gauge when the bottle is secured).

Hope this helps......

I agree, its to protect the adapters.. do not take it off.... but yes you can loosen it and move it round if your inflator is tight to fit..or take it back and get another that your inflator fits better... they will exchange it for another

Take you inflator with you and show them the problem you are having
