Hi guys

I've been asked today to do a balloon show next month, now I normally do a magic show followed by balloons and am not really sure how to approach this.

Basically I'm looking at becoming a full time pro and have told a few people I'll be happy to do events just for the cost of the balloons to get more experience.  So today I got a call to do 30 minutes for around 90 children (its a school event), the organisiers don't really want a traditional magic show but they want a show with the ephasis on balloons.  I thought this would be a good opportunity to try something different.

Now I'm in two minds, either to just do modling for children on stage while everyone watches and try and make that as entertaining as possible, or to try and come up with 30 minute of magical entertainment using just balloons.

Any thoughts or advice would be warmly received!!!

:o)

I put this question out on BHQ a while ago and got a lot of feed back.  First, I would highly recommend Jimmy Leo, Journey to the Center of the Stage.  It is a great place to start.  It could also provide the material for your first show, it is story telling with balloons. (three little pigs)
Second, Don Caldwell's book, Things That Fell Out Of My Head is priceless.  It is available on BHQ, http://www.balloonhq.com/library/book/p ... MyHead.pdf

I would also, give Graham's suggestion serious thought, Ralph Dewey put a column on BHQ recently entitled, Balloon Clue, and you can use it as part of your show as a game show segment.

Hope this helps and if I think of anything else, Ill add it.

Graham,

That sounds like a really great idea, not only is it interactive and fun for the kids but it means I can actually show off more of the impressive models by premaking them!  Part of the idea of doing it is to hopefully get some birthday parties too as parents will be there, thinking about it, no reason not to make everyone a balloon, but the winner gets a bigger/better one.  I guess I can spend a day or two making them all, in fact it's one of my favourite things to do!!  I can think of quiet a few balloon related games to play as well!

Thanks for the advice, just downloaded the book and think I might get offline and have a good read though it now!!

Cheers guys

Hi Ben,

If you type Arizona Rick Balloon Show into google it will take you to his BHQ portfolio where he has some fun excerpts from his balloon show.

They look really entertaining, and may give you some ideas.

Good luck with the show  :D
