My grandson was around this morning blowing up and playing with the balloons although I always have tied them up for him, so I showed him twice about tying the knot and like all children he was saying "I can't do it" etc.
So I just explained that at first he couldn't blow a balloon up on his own with a pump, and now he can. He used to not be able to ride a bike, and now he can, he used to not be able to put his shoes on and now he can and that he used to not be able to walk and now he can. Well it must have done the trick as he sat there for a good 15 mins trying time after time to tie the knot. He seemed to be tying it twice somehow and when he took it off his fingers it would come undone so I showed it to him once more and then 5 minutes later after I said he'd get a pound if he managed it he had his very first knot  :D
So here he is with the balloon and the dog he made after with it, his mum accused me of making the dog for him but it's definately 100% from blowing the balloon up tying the knot and making the balloon all Harry's work. Little Harry is five and a half.

Congratulations to Harry!  :D  :D  :D  :D
That is so great.  Think I'll have to get my 6 year old on to twisting then he can be my 'assistant'.  Only fear is he'll probably be better than me!  :o

I'm very impressed. Tying knots is the hardest part to master. It took me ages and I'm at least 15 years older then Harry. Congratulations!

So Harry was around again today using my battery operated inflator, he blew all these up on his own, tied them and made this up with just the wonder of his own imagination.
It was no ordinary back pack design but remote control from the back pack to the laser gun/bomb and the red balloon on his back was the rocket ignitor to fly him all over our house,
and then unfortunately they grow up  :(

Well, some of them grow up, the rest of them turn into you and me, Graham!!!

Oh, and very impressed with your protege, especially the remote control idea, will need to put that into future designs...

Harry came around today and wanted to get all tooled up, he enjoyed himself. I made a crossbow for him, we had to put an extra balloon over the top of the front section as he was having trouble pulling the arrow back and keeping it in place to fire at the same time. Seeing the picture of the crossbow upside down, it may work well to put the arrow in what were meant to be the arm supports and he never mentioned anything about having a pink crossbow all evening.

When Harry was over we were playing with a few variations on the crossbow and a catapult, the catapult popped and I ended up with what looked like a man with attitude with arms on hips. Then while looking at this the exact same man became a trussed up chicken  :)

Harrry was around this morning, I tied the knots and Harry made a one headed monster, then when I came back from my shows he had changed it to the dreaded two headed monster.
