I imagine that if you build your own, you will only need the one pump and then need to come up with an attachment to raise it to the correct height. (To make it stable to use at height)
Possible alternative is a pump action (shotgun style) pump that could be slung over your shoulder. Not hugely practical but again could be a fun project. Ah the possibilities
