I have just been declined cover by my current insurer and have spoken to someone at Equity who said they did not.  However, this guy did not sound terribly sure so thought I would ask on here since someone is bound to know  ;)

I have already found out that NABAS will cover me for everything I need but that would also mean leaving FACE which I am a little reluctant to do as at best it would leave them completely in the lurch!

Easy answer to this one - No

Equity will cover you for all your entertaining, but decor is not classed as entertaining.

Have you tried talking to Face about the nabas policy? I thought they where both hiscox policies?

If you want sight of the policy we get I am sure the nabas office will send the face committee one if they want to check its viability to accepting members with this policy - check out the details on the website http://www.nabas.co.uk

That's interesting.

Can't you have one insurance for ballooning-twisting-face painting and other insurance for Balloon Decor? it sounds logical....

I could but I know for a fact NABAS will cover me for everything I wish to do and I kind of begrudge paying for insurance and membership through 2 different organisations just because one the first insurer will not cover me for one activity.

FACE have a policy whereby you can only be insured by their group policy or Equity because it is entirely run by volunteers and renewals is a huge enough job without having to check everyone has valid PLI and then remembering to check they actually renewed it.

I have let the chairman know the situation but I have said until my current insurers let me know how much of my premium I will get refunded, having had just 4 months cover, I won't know what I am going to do.  If the refund is pitiful I have said I will not cancel the policy and will just let it expire (if that is even legal?) and stay in FACE until April renewals.  Realistically I don't want to leave FACE but I also do not wish to waste all the money I have just spent on equipment and training not to mention the time I have spent doing the QBN exams.

I shall be joining NABAS anyway and taking their insurance and have to say I was particularly impressed with their helpfulness.  I was even more impressed that they gave me their brokers number to answer my insurance queries and he actually sounded like he knew what he was talking about     That had to be a first.
