You could also try this.

Although I've found plumbing supplies in this country to be way more expensive than they appear to be in the States. As a matter of interest, which model are you planning to make. I'm going to attempt the witch for next week.

It comes as a kit, so you have the base then screw together sections for the pole.  you just don't put the lamp part on the top!

Argos sell two uplighters for £10 which are useable. It's easy enough to follow the DVD and use carpet tiles. As the column pole only needs to be short you don't need a steel rod. If you use the uplighter you need to go back to the venue and collect it. With a uPC pole you can leave it.

Hi Norman, you should have come today to the care & share day as Roger explained about a few different bases and how to make a few tables as well,
it was very informative. I'm sure there are a couple of threads here on balloon chat for the Ikea stand.

Hi Norm
I have started using a 10kg weight from a weights bench (about 22lbs) and a pvc pipe as Ken Stillman showed on Balloon Click.  My previous wooden bases with dowelling weren't as successful.  Hope that helps.

I have also gotten lamps from second hand stores and used the bases now.  It is quite effective and less expensive.

Plus I love looking at others "junk" and re purposing it for something useful.

I hope to open an art gallery in Gettysburg with recycled things using balloons of all sorts.
