I occasionally work at various shopping centres twisting and selling balloon creations and sometimes I can overhear parents' responses to their children - in particular reasons parents give to their children in order NOT TO BUY A BALLOON.

So, "Mummy can we buy a balloon?!"

- I have no change!
- We'll get it on our way back    (rarely the case )
- You are not a baby!
- It will pop!
- It's a waste of money!
- They are closing.

And the following is possibly the best response I have ever overheard: " But I though you wanted a Play Station..." the child stopped asking for a balloon straight away  

That's a very good response! Funny!
