Title: New Forum, The Balloon Artistes Guild.
Post by: Graham Lee on June 16, 2022, 02:02:59 PM
We are looking into having a paid tutorial section on the forum. This might be onto Balloon Chat here and the old forum...
But only if we can find someone who is an expert on the simple machines database.

If not then we will start up a new section on my website with a plug in word press forum,
we are still looking into what might be the best route to take.

The plan till the end of the year is to put onto the paid site, three of my old DVD's, six balloon tutorials and my Paddington Bear
design that we filmed a while back but have not posted it anywhere as yet. I would also like to include some zoom's
for those who sign up to the new section of the forum. I was hoping to offer this at just a pound a week, plus VAT.
So trying to keep it all very affordable for everyone.

Next month, July will be the 100th BalloonTube tutorial we have posted so I thought that was
a good place to stop and to have a look at variations and trying different avenue's.
It's better to try things and fail than to sit still wondering what may or may not have happened.

I was hoping to get this up and working on the 1st July so it would be a 6 month membership for just £31.20 but the technical
people are unable to take a look at some of the finer points till early July so that would mean starting possibly the 1st August.
Then the fee till the end of the year would be £26.40. Just wanted to mention these things, any comments and
suggestions are most welcome either here or with a PM, thanks xx
Lots of decisions to be made.

I did some filming on Saturday getting ready for the new adventure, it took me over an hour to decide what top to wear
as we decided to hang up the Pink shirt we have been using for BalloonTube.
I thought that as we were coming up for tutorial number 100 it was time to go for something else.
We did film making the Dolphin 4 times in a different outfit till I decided on what to wear, I thought it was funny...
me being indecisive, he he

I'm completely on the fence about what is the best way to go,
update the forum here and have part free and part payment, would that make things confusing?
or have a forum attached to the shop website that is the paid tutorial site, so keeping it away from the free forum here?

Anyway, here are a few designs I have been filming.

I was looking at my very first DVD from 18/20 years ago and there was a nice flower
in a vase design so from that we have made this small version for line work.

We did some more filming for the new forum yesterday, four designs altogether.
The first two were the Butterfly and Car, both quick and for line work.

Then the Bee which is a brand new design and the Giraffe which I was trying to make quicker for line work.

Well the past couple of days have been interesting, I had six tutorials filmed already and filmed another four
over the weekend which did not go to badly. So now we have to edit off the beginning and the end of the
tutorials where I switch the camera on and off. So as we are hoping to film quite a few of these I
wanted to see if I could do the editing rather than relying on others.

I googled and saw good reviews for Shotcut editing so have been playing with that.
Again I was googling to see how to do everything, worked out how to take the front and back sections out.
Then how to add a picture to the front so you can see the design we are making, then I even
worked out how to fade the picture in and out as well.................

So rather pleased as technology and I usually don't go together.

We have also found out that some of the tutorials that are 15 min long are over 1GB which
is pretty big but if I save the tutorial through Shotcut this compresses the file and they have come down to 343MB.
The quality does not look like its been diminished which is a bonus as well.

On a side not for my numbers tutorials that take up to an hour they were 8GB and once compressed are down to approx 2GB
So when the new forum goes live that will help with not using so much bandwidth.

Anyway that's my fun few days, I still have a few more to edit and save so will be doing this till the weekend I expect.

I have updated the Cows as well and these will be going on the new forum with a video tutorial..

This is the first draft of the new forum website, first impressions are favourable as I was not sure what to expect.
The Sausage Dog picture I feel should have a White background and the logo should be way bigger but that's about all.

I have a small mailing list that I have just sent this out to,

Hi everyone,
Some details below about a new forum we are putting together that will be going live on the 1st August.

If you would like to be there from day one then I have just put the booking details live onto the website.
https://balloonartwholesale.co.uk/balloons/workshops/

We are charging just a pound a week till the end of the year plus VAT.
As it's an all new venture for myself it's all a bit of a mystery how the forum will evolve but I have been looking
forward to getting this live and hopefully making it a more personal, fun and interactive site where I will be
about to help out. Any questions then please ask and if you would like to join me for this journey
then it's only £26.40 to join till the end of 2022.

And I promise to put up nine tutorials, three of my older DVD's, it's worth joining just to see what I looked
like 20 years ago ;D ;D ;D and we will also have a live zoom or two for members later on in the year.

The fee above is for the basic forum, I will be having some premium tutorials available as well that will be an additional cost.
Filmed so far are Jessica Rabbit, Paddington Bear and a really nice Teddy Bear that stands and sits down which is a little different.
My number tutorials will also be on the premium page but we are looking to have a few special offers.

Already filmed for the basic section of the forum I have a Santa wand, Digger, Giraffe, Bee, Car, Butterfly, Elephant, Dog,
Heart, Unicorn, Fish Hat and a Dolphin. So that is 12 designs and I'm only putting nine of these up before the end of the year.

I'm going to try and film every design that I make so it depends how active and busy I get to how many tutorials I can post.

Thanks for reading and if you have any questions then please ask and if you do know anyone else that might like
to join then please pass on the details. It would be very much appreciated........... Thank you XXxx

I have been going through my downloads tidying things up on my computer and have found a Betty Boop design I filmed
7 years ago that we have not done anything with and also a three balloon Bunny that was recorded for BalloonTube but
got missed out. Plus I did not realise the four Facebook lives I filmed saved onto my computer so there are another eight
designs there we can share which are a Reindeer, Cat, Sausage Dog, Flower, Motorbike, Peppa Pig, Santa and Christmas Tree.

Be warned though I make the bike wrong twice if memory serves me right, ooops.

Post by: Graham Lee on July 29, 2022, 09:49:58 AM
Apologies, I have just read through this thread and on the opening section I did mention Paddington would be going onto the forum.
It is but on the premium side, my mistake as when I wrote this back in June it was all very much in the early
stages and I was not to sure what way the new forum would go.

I will email everyone who has signed up to explain and offer a refund if anyone is unhappy.

Also the Cow is still very similar to the original I posted onto my BalloonTube channel so at the moment I will not include this on the forum.
If you would like to learn the cow design then this is the link, it is video number 83,
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCV8BZoHyBE9A19Ua_9KUcAg/videos

Again apologies for the mis understanding and me changing my mind and unsure at the beginning how the forum would evolve.

"The Balloon Artistes Guild" Forum
I have just set up the first live Zoom for members, this will be on the 7th Sept at 8pm UK Time.
We will be making the Bird design that came about when we were making the Parrot the other week.
It does have an unconventional way of going together.
If you are not a member of the forum you are also most welcome to join us and can sign
up here for the workshop, https://balloonartwholesale.co.uk/balloons/workshops/
Any questions then please ask away, thanks xx.

I'm doing some more filming tomorrow, have three designs ready to go and would like to do a fourth as well.
Now what shall it be?
Title: Re: New Forum, The Balloon Artistes Guild.
Post by: Graham Lee on August 21, 2022, 09:17:40 PM
We did the filming today, the Crown went well, I went with the simpler design as I like the more elegant look and feel.  We had a few
problems with the Mouse and I came up with a better idea for the whiskers so will completely film that again another day.

Title: Re: New Forum, The Balloon Artistes Guild.
Post by: Graham Lee on August 21, 2022, 09:22:49 PM
The Bird design was not to bad, I lost the excess slack balloon a couple of times when pushing it through the centre of the
Bird but I suppose that adds to the drama, he he

Then the Parrot, oh dear, I have made quite a few times and when pushing the feet of the Parrot onto the Perch it has always gone OK..........
but not today when filming, a pinch twist got lost down the back behind the Parrot and between its feet and the Perch. I've just watched the
re run as I was thinking I would film again but at the moment I will leave as is so people can see that sometimes things do not go to
plan and it all worked out OK in the end and was proportioned correctly.
If we film again other things might go wrong and the design may not look as nice.

I'm not sure I like the look of the eye lashes on the Parrot, perhaps they will grow on me but I doubt it.

So that was my day.

I have just made the tutorial for Paddington Bear available to purchase. It will be live on the forum from the 1st September to view.
I originally made the design way back in May 2018 and we filmed the tutorial in July 2020
Here is Paddington with two slightly different hats, not sure which one I explained on camera.

I have just posted the 40 min tutorial for the digger up onto the BAG Forum, https://theballoonartistesguild.co.uk/
We do explain two variations with the easier 4 balloon digger and then the 6 balloon digger as well.
Hope it's of use to a few and if you would like to join BAG then at the moment to view we have,
1, Dolphin.
2, Love Heart.
3, Bee.
4, Car.
5, Digger.
Plus my DVD 1 with 15 balloon designs on.
We also have the first live Zoom workshop which is free to club members all booked in for 7th Sept where we will be
explaining the Big Bird design. If you would like to join then it's just a one off fee till
the end of the year which I like to think is a real bargain. https://balloonartwholesale.co.uk/balloons/workshops/

I did some more filming at the weekend, we made the Panda, Handbag and I re-filmed the Mouse as had a different way to
add the whiskers which I thought was better. But after filming decided to keep with the original filming for the Mouse.

I will try and show both skirt variations.
Title: Re: New Forum, The Balloon Artistes Guild.

And then the Plane and Dinosaur.
Title: Re: New Forum, The Balloon Artistes Guild.
Post by: Graham Lee on October 02, 2022, 10:32:16 AM
We did manage to do the filming, five designs and two variations, one for the skirt on the Bride/Princess and a variation on the body of the Dinosaur.

Someone did mention the Dino was not one thing or the other and I do agree, perhaps he needs just a smile or perhaps no smile at all.
Will have a think on that one, although we have filmed him already but can do again if need be. I usually make a friendly Dino or a
scary Dino so perhaps these might fit the bill if you are just asked for a Dino and not anything specific... puts on thinking cap.

Would you like to join the website? It's just £26.40 till the end of the year and
we will have over 50 designs posted by the end of the year and there are 3 live
zooms to see, the bride that we did last week. A Santa Zoom is booked in for
Nov and then we have the Dec zoom to decide a design to show. We have now got
a blog all set up so I can explain the designs we are showing and how they
came about and a few links to variations on a theme for members to view.
This is my latest adventure into this amazing world of latex and it would
be lovely to have a few more joining. Any questions then please ask,

I have had two really busy days filming, we have managed to do ten designs including,
Skeleton Man, Spider, Vampire, Grim Reaper, Santa, Bat, Dinosaur, Sonic, Laying Down Dog and a premium tutorial for Winnie The Pooh.

Post by: Graham Lee on November 06, 2022, 03:26:24 PM
A few more of the designs, I did mention when filming that I thought Bat's might be blind... ooops!
I have since googled and they are not, but it did say contrary to myth.
So it seems like I was not the only one who made the mistake.
See this balloon modelling is very educational....he he xx

And then the two that took a little longer as they were more detailed.
Winnie the Pooh is a 45 min tutorial and we did this in one take, that even surprised me.

The Dog is a 30 minute tutorial which was three takes so we will have to do some editing.
Well I just blur the cut in and out so it's pretty obvious and I also say did you see the cut when we come back, he he

Last chance to have a go at the competition to win access to the balloon artistes guild for 2022.
There are 49 tutorials to view and if you are not lucky enough to win the prize then it's only
£26.40 to join and view the designs for 2022.
To enter the competition you have to guess how many balloons were used in building the train
and also how long the train took to build in minutes. The tie break question in case we need it is,
how many balloons did I pop while making the train. Please post your answers underneath the
video of the train on my home page.

Not sure when they will be going live on the website as I'm only on tutorial number 21 to post and these are numbers 44 to 48 so it might be 18 months... oops!

I will be posting two tutorials next Sunday though, not sure what ones yet...
PLUS, we will be wearing a new pink shirt on Sunday as well.... he he
