A very interesting picture that looks like it's made from rolled up 260's? Possibly. http://onmilwaukee.com/ent/articles/bal ... html?27241

Peter John is and has been highly inspirational to me!  While this isn't an article, this forum has a much more complete picture of his Seurat creation.

You are right about the balloons being hand rolled, I do not think anyone bothered to ask what size of balloons though nor do I think I have ever see a size mentioned...  You can also search that forum for a little more information by simply using the key word Seurat.

Uggg. It seems someone beat me to it.

I was studying art last year in college, to be more specific mosaics. My first thought was the classic inflated 5 inch rounds arranged in a wall but as soon as spacial restrictions became apparent I reconsidered. At home a was just messing with balloons and I rolled one up and imagined it as a pixel. I attempted to pursue this route (would have made a fantastic final project) but was faced with the problem of finding a frame that met the exact depth required to hold things in balance.

Oh well. Perhaps it is worth further pursuit in the future.

Thank you Graham for the nice shout out.  Mr. King, thank you for the continuous kind words.

It was indeed made with 260s.   There are 8,460 hand rolled balloons to make this image.

and a close up

My wife is a teacher and I noticed she was assembling an art lesson on pointillism the other night. As she went upstairs to check on the kids I jumped on her computer, BalloonHQ Event coverage of Twist and Shout 2010 and printed out both of your entry photos. Then printed out Seurat's original and a write up.

What better way to convey pointillism than your entry? Everyone can imagine a rolled up balloon. And now I can tell her that there are almost 8,500 balloons in that work of art.

Lovely piece John.

Thanks Sean.  Sorry I have not been able to answer earlier, I can not believe how busy I have become.

I am currently undertaking a new technique that I hope to expose next year at Twist and Shout 2013.  It has been two years in development.
