They say, the wet latex prices will raise. The expected raising is 35-40% at the beginning of next year. Bad news...

It's been rising quite a lot over the past few years, like everything else really.

Qualatex is only rising the prices of the modelling balloons. So the twisters are the victims..

Is that in Europe? In the UK it may be different.

It heard it from a supplier. Hopefully, it's a rumour.

My understanding although this may just be the UK is that latex rounds/prints are going up between 1.5/3% and some bubbles up between 12/18% and then in the UK we have a 2.5% VAT rise as well. So no increase in the modelling range.

In Hungary the prices of all types of balloons from all manufacturers will raise - as the biggest wholesaler's mail wrote.

Seems like a lot of rumour and not a lot of facts at the moment...however, is it seriously such a bad thing?

What % of your charges do balloons make up for most twisters and most gigs?  For me it's one of the smallest of all my gig costs, unless I am deliberately using lots of GEO's or printed rounds, which I only do ocassionally.

Balloon Decor requires a much larger investment in balloon costs compared to the twisters in NZ at least.

While it's always best to pay less, will it really affect twisters that much? :ugeek:

Good post Charles, for the professional entertainer as you say the balloon cost is only a very small part of your overall costs.
For the hobbyist/just for fun twister it probably is more of a problem/issue.

On the twisting front it is not really a problem as like Charles says for the amount of balloons you use on an average job it is not going to make a huge dent in the profit margins but on the décor side it will have a big impact.  My wholesalers will put their prices up and since VAT is added to the total they will not be swallowing the increase there either.  Since I am not VAT registered it is an issue for me because (now I have finally sorted my prices - kind of) I now have the decision to make as to whether to increase them to cover the cost of the products or whether to keep them as is and cut down what I make on each job!

As for the bubbles I will confess I have resisted using them as I feel they are already expensive compared to foils etc and if they are going up by that much it is highly unlikely I will incorporate them now.

Qualatex modelling balloons went up in price by 7% a few months back.. did you miss it?

Bubbles float for about a month at least, compared to standard 18/20" week, and foils have increased in price all year long, last year we paid on average for printed foils 90/95p - now some of the disney prints are up to £1.30 (sorry plus VAT, we are vat registerd so claim it back) whichis about the same price as the bubbles..

Have a play Yvonne you will love them!! honest and if you buy the 24" clear ones and double stuff init an 11" latex - that too will last over a month!!

Good news come from the biggest Hungarian Q wholesaler. Finally the Q160 - Q646 prices remains the same as in last year, the prices of 5, 8 and 250 pieces/pack is a little bit cheaper from this year. The max. raising is below 10% where the price raise. As we say: there was the smoke bigger than the flame...
