Hi guys I am twisting at the Rugby next weekend and I intend to make a hat for myself to wear but not being a Ruby fan or even understanding the game at all I would like some suggestions of not only something appropriate but non-biased too.

I did think about weaving a rugby ball but thought it may look a little strange?!

A rugby ball with a set of posts may look OK or a lootle type player with ball and post.

Whats the level of the Rugby you are watching ?  do they have a mascot each you could base a design on ?

Sale Sharks have a Shark as their Mascot,   Leicester Tigers - of course a Tiger -  maybe google the teams - even our local team has a mascot ...

Take two hats - one in each of their colours ?

Not watching I'm twisting and it's the Rugby 7's so National teams I guess? I really don't know rugby but would prefer to stay non-biased regarding nationalities. I haven't had booking details through so I have no idea if we will be required to make specific things or anything. The only thing I do know which scares me is that there will be 6 face painters but only me twisting!!!!

Hi Yvonne,

When I have done football events, it has never been about what models you can do, but more about the team colours, and can we wear it, wave it or wiggle it.

I would go for hats wristables, wands etc, in whatever team colours are appropriate to whoever is playing.

If you can make a sugestion to the bookers to buy a display piece, maybe this will help  :D  :D

Hope your event goes well
Kind regards
Kevin

PS. When I photographed him. I stuck the back leg to the wall to make him stand.

To keep him in the pose, as a presentation model, he had a support so he would stay in that position.
Kind regards
Kevin

Not too worried about what to make at the job but I can't contact the organisers as both myself and the painters are being organised by another painter and I have yet to get the details through. I have no idea about Rugby but from what I can make out online the 7's is made up from 14 national teams.

What I am really after is for ideas that will be unbiased for me to wear on my own head so I can be easily recognised as a twister. I did think about making a player but my concern was that I would end up making it in a wrong colour or something. Even if it's not one of the teams playing I am sure whatever colour I choose will be some nationalities colours?

Hi YvonneH.

I would make a rugby palyer on a hat holding a rugby ball. If you choose pink for the colour then you would be safe. Also choose a metallic colour for the shorts...

I am sure you will be very neutral looking on the day!!

Hi Yvonne

I would make whatever you are going to feel comfortable in.. Remember you are going to asked for it a lot... so if you keep it simple you can reproduce it quickly..

If you want colours to go with UK national teams and want to show theme but not show bias then do what ever you decide to make in red white & blue balloons..
