Hello everyone,

Im looking a purchasing an electric pump as my poor little wrists are feeling the effects of hand blowing up too many balloons...Any advice?
Ive narrowed my web research down to a "Pee wee" or a "Majiloon".
Ive found a "Majiloon" on ebay but a bit suspicious of the listing as had recently been brought in April.

Any advice is always greatly appreciated

Lucy,

This is worth looking at...

It's not electric but is just as good for inflating modelling balloons (in my opinion)

I have one, its a great bit of kit.

I highly recommend it. People are always amazed and I have had kids laughing just from inflating balloons!

The basic majiloon is from $300 and the pee wee $800 so there is a big difference in price.

As Danny shows, incorporate the pump into part of your performance and you are onto a winner.

My only problem is I like to roam around and the stand alone pump I feel would be awkward to use.
What's your personal preference Nippy?

I roam around all the time and either use the standard qualatex purple pump attached to my balloon bag or sling the macpump over my shoulder when moving around. It is very light and really isn't a problem. I have had various battery operated pumps before and either find them too noisy, the battery doesn't last the length of my gig, or they do not have enough pressure to inflate all the different size and shaped balloons I need.

Now if there was a machine that automatically tied balloons to save my sore fingers that WOULD be good.

now that would just take all the fun out of it.

I think you have convinced me, thanks very much for the opinion.
I was worried about batteries giving up etc

I am a big fan of the pee wee. I've had mine for just about a year and it's working great. I heard about it from Annie Bannanie who has had one for over ten years and it's still going strong (the original battery only recently wore out!)

For me, there are several factors that make this a great product.

1. It's very quiet. I use it in restaurants and it's not any louder than the general noise level. (However, it does sound slightly like a gaseous expulsion, if you know what I mean, but kids find that hilarious  :D )
2. The battery charge lasts longer than I have ever needed it to. I have two restaurants every week, plus several gigs on the weekend, and I can get through a whole week without a recharge. The downside to that is it's easy to forget to charge it, so I try to make a habit of plugging it in every few days.
3. Very light. It comes with a belt strap so it can easily be worn without tiring out your back. However, I have actually strapped on to the botom of my balloon cart.

There are some downsides.

1. It is not fast. It's great for inflating 160s and 260s, but it's too slow to inflate 350's or 646's in a reasonable amount of time. But I believe that will be the case with any small pump. And the larger diameter balloons are easy enough to mouth inflate that it doesn't bother me.
2. Cost. It's expensive (and I imagine it will be even more so to have it shipped to the UK)

But to me it was well worth it. I noticed an instant improvement in my interaction with people because I was so relaxed. I never realized just how tense I got inflating balloons by mouth or even with a hand pump. One stroke floor pumps are certainly an improvement, but over the course of a full day event, nothing beats the Pee Wee pump (in my humble opinion).

Hope that helps!

Thanks for your insight David. Its because of you that I'm actually having to buy a better pump !!!  :D  :D

Since buying your back-pack Dvd my workload has gone through the roof.

Can't wait to buy the mask one next...

Cheers

If you are buying David's mask DVD then stock up on 646s and buy a pump suitable for inflating car tyres! ;-)

I have a bum bag battery operated pump - had it for years but dont use it these days as I found it worked with traditional colours of 260's but was not happy with the other colours and if I dared use neon it would not inflate them at all...

Is it the age of the pump/batteries or just the way they work?
