I've just got off the phone with Leo and he has given me two provisional dates that he's looking at but The Millennium Jam 2009 will be going ahead this year although on a slightly run down scale at the same venue sun parks for a three day event, so we can travel on the Monday and the event will be Tue, Wed Thurs and travel home on the Friday.

The confirmed date will be announced at the end of this week, I personally think that this is great news

There will probably be about six confirmed instructors for the event and then anyone that would like to teach a class can volunteer by putting there name down on the board, very similar to how a juggling convention works with also a renegade/talent show in the evening and no planned events as such. As I understand there will be no balloon sponsor this year either so you will also need to take your own supply of balloons with you.
But I'm sure it will still be great fun just that we will all need to help make it happen and there are no better people to have around when you want to have some fun than the balloon community.

Graham... as you are on the inside what do you think about a 'balloon kitty' model, where rather than take your own balloons everyone throws in some cash to fund an overall stock.

It would be more fun, a whole lot easier,... and also maybe a business opportunity for someone who sold balloons (whoever that is )

Like i said before the Euro jam is the better one at least it has free balloons and i beleive it is cheaper so come and join us all there.

I have to disagree with that, the millennium jam is just the best balloon convention in the world. What with the fashion show, iron latex competition, gala show and the european balloon entertainer of the year competition. You could say that as there will be no free balloons that the millennium jam this year is going to be completely independent which means that no ones hands are going to be tied due to the restrictions of sponsorship.

perhaps this is a great opportunity for sempertex to sposor the event???

This would be fun to organise    I'm guessing that some peole stay up all night jamming and would use thousands of balloons and then some like myself hardly do any twisting at the event and then who would police the light fingered people.
The idea is to make the event as easy as possible for Leo & Johan so that for once they can enjoy themselves as well.
But please keep the suggestions coming as it's always good to get input to help improve what is already a great event and should go in the diary straight away.

Sounds to me like the event is going back to how it used to be - back to its roots - and without a sponsor as previously said it means all balloons can shine in their own right and be used.

And light fingered people are those that like to take things that they should not.

So to put it crudely stop people steeling.

That is indeed great news that it is going ahead even if it is on a smaller scale.. I just hope that it will be at a time when I can make it this year. It was so dissappointing not being able to get ther last year.
