Title: Train
Post by: Graham Lee on December 26, 2020, 12:43:33 PM
I was thinking what would we have as Model of the Month for January and a Train came to mind.
So trying to make a simple'ish line work train that some might use.

This is how the trains came about.

I then tried a separate cab and main train section.

Picture 4 and 7 were the best trains so far.
I have a few more still to post and all are variations on a theme.

It was the wheels I was trying to get to sit flatter to the ground and not have that curved look.
The cabin section needed to be straightened up but that was pretty easy with just making
the front of it slightly smaller. It was the wheels that were bugging me.

These were getting there but took a while to make and possibly too fiddly for the real world.

I had 4 wheels for the train and then made the last one another pinch twist at back.
It gets a more straight line for the wheels and the train sits nicer for me,
still only five balloons but too complicated to make in real world.

Still making more variations and the cab was looking straighter in the design.

I liked the look of this train but I think it would take to long to make in the real world.
There are to many twists and you would need to be pretty precise on how much air to have in the balloons.

So I woke early one morning and was thinking about trains..............as I do  ;D
Well about the design and how I could make it work and had two ideas.

One was to have a pinch twist on the Red 160 to help hold the wheels up and the other was
to have a pinch twist on the black and a 260 support over to the other set of wheels.

I tried this on two earlier trains I had made,
neither idea worked as I was looking for but it sparked the next idea that did work, so that was a bonus.

So the next idea that the previous two trains sparked worked and I got the look of the wheels that I was happy with.
These are my favourite two trains at the moment, I turned the Black 260 on the last picture horizontal instead of vertical.
Still making my mind up to what way fits best.
