Twisting with a broken ankle

I broke my ankle on Monday, not just a sprain like I thought for 4 days before I went to the doctor.  (Stubborn much?)  Anyway, I don't have many gigs coming up and I'll refuse most for the next few weeks.  However, I do have some that I need to do.  Anyone been in this situation to give me any tips to make it a bit easier?

I'm planning on sitting and simplifying my menu, but beyond that I have no ideas.  Thoughts?

Thanks!

Ouch" poor you. I had an accident a few years back and badly sprained my ankle.  It hurt so much I thought it was broken.  I went to the hospital and they surprised me by saying it was not broken but badly sprained and said a sprains can be more painful than a break sometimes. Guess this is an example.  But of course a break will take a lot longer to fix this  a sprain.  I was obsessed with not letting the customers down. I called then all up and explained I had had this accident and that although I could still entertain the kids I couldn't bounce like normal or dance properly and I couldn't get my gear in and out and loaded in my car. So as long as they understood they would have to muck in regarding the gear and anything I needed help, with setting up, I could still do the party for them.  Instead of being upset with me they were very grateful I still came and I never had so many offers of cups of tea whilst working before! I did my routine, hopped occasionally which the kids thought hilarious and told the children my elephant had got so excited about his special treat he had stood on my foot.   I think as long as you explain to your closest bookings that you broke your ankle they will take the same attitude and will be only too happy to help. Generally people come up trumps at these times. Good luck and thinking of you xxx

Hi Lynnae,
Sorry to hear of your accident and situation.
I have never twisted with a broken ankle, but my friend Carol T. has had her foot in some sort of cast for over a year now while they do operations and try to figure out what is wrong.
Carol takes a stool along with her to gigs or inquires if they have a tall stool. She sit/stand with it and does her work, which is usually face painting or/and balloons.

She makes sure like Thelma to inform her clients so that they can help her get her things in and out of the car.

I will put you in my prayers for a speedy recovery. ;)

Wishing you a speedy recovery, could you make a plaster from the balloons to emphasise it even more? Like the TV presenter did at the Florida jam.
I did post a picture of him wearing it on the Florida thread.

Oh my goodness!  Your poor friend!!!  And here I'm a bit whiny over 3 weeks in a cast.  Thanks for putting things in perspective.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts and advice.  It has been very helpful!

Thank you for all you kind words!  I did my first gig last night.  It was line twisting at a Chick-fil-a family night.  My husband stayed close for support if I needed him, but luckily the night went pretty well.  I had to shift a lot from sitting to standing, but it went all right.  Here's hoping my 6 hour gig in just over a week goes as well!

Thanks again!
