Title: What does your wife do?
Post by: CJ Nelson on January 24, 2013, 08:16:22 PM
How should I answer that question?  My wife is a doctor and I don't want to tell people that for several reasons.  My answer now is very vague but I will be moving to a much smaller community and being vague won't really work anymore.  Any suggestions.

You could say that she is very new age and facilitates other people's well being!

Or how about: she goes out in the morning, I don't really know where, so that I can play with my balloons, and around tea time, she comes back  ;)

You could just say she works for the NHS. When people ask me what my other job is I say I work for the council rather than saying I'm a social worker!

My wife is just a few classes shy of being a lawyer. When people ask (rarely) I tell them straight. It does not bother me a bit. I make a comparable income doing something I find easy and enjoyable while having plenty of free time with our daughter. What more could a guy want?

Nice!  My wife is a doctor and almost finished with residency.  The problem with telling people that she is a doctor is that 1 in 5 doctors in the US will be sued for a non-medical reason, either by strangers or "friends".  A lawyer friend recommended that I not advertise what my wife does for just that reason.  So I need something witty to say.

Tell them this... It works for me...
Work is a Place she goes.... Not a thing she does....

You could say that she's a scientist which is quite vague but also sort of true,
