Is anyone else having problems with the 18" (100 for £35) red foil balloon hearts from Up Up and Away?

I keep getting the occasional one going down. I've tried heat sealing them with a bag sealer and thats made no difference.

Its not all the balloons, it's about one in every six or seven. I've had to inflate all of todays balloons last night with extra's just in case any go down, and this morning, there were another four slightly deflated ones, I don't want customers to get these balloons.

I'm going to have to do the same now for tomorrows balloons, I'll inflate them all tonight just in case.  :(

The other annoying thing is why do they have to put not one, but two bar codes on the balloons??? They look awful right at the base of the balloon . . . so unsightly.

Graeme how are you inflating them?  I ask because apparently it is very easy to damage the valve in the balloons if you inflate them too quickly.  I have had this on occasion and the balloons look rubbish so I am now inflating them with my foil inflater even though this means setting up my Heidi every time.  Honestly the first paying job I get that makes enough profit I shall invest in a foil inflater that attaches straight onto the gas tank to save the hassle

Hhummm!  That is bizarre!  I haven't had any bookings for valentines as everywhere I phoned either did not answer or claimed they were not having a valentine's event!  Therefore, not had to blow up more than 2 of them!!!!

I have had problems with anagram's in the past deflating a little within seconds of being inflated and no matter what I tried they would not inflate properly.  I was advised by a decorating forum that it was probably because I was inflating them too quickly but having not had a chance to do any foils since I've not put the theory to the test.  I am wondering what make these balloons are since I know the worst offenders I've had were the same brand.  Although having said that I have had plenty of foils that have not done this too of all brands  ;)

Sorry folks Fact of life!! Some foils dont work!!
especially when its mass production - ie valentines red hearts or christmas - unless the manufacturer inflated everyone how can the tell

Just the same as some latex balloons POP on inflation...

part of the job

Seams are not sealed properly, valves does not close properly etc etc... regardless of brand

If its the seam you can usually hear a 'crack' when inflating

Some times its wholesalers, storage ( damp, cold etc) or stock ( maybe previous years or more!!) who are we to know unless we buy direct from the manufacturers

I always inflate foils the day before when I can, believe me after years of frustration!! (its always when you are busy or they are standing in front of you)

Dont tie the ribbon in just leave them on the ceiling then at least you know they will be good for the customer - the worst ones are the letters and numbers!

If you have a few go, wholesalers will refund on return.  but usually the postage outweighs the cost of refund if bought mail order..

We have bought locally for the last 2 years Unique hearts in packs of 12  - much the same price and have not had one go down, so very impressed

I have done near 200 of them with no problems well 1 but that was my fault as I did it on a tilt valve in a hurry. I don't believe they were old stock as he cleared most of it out after the fire.

I would give them a ring on Monday and also contact Anagram Chris Horne is a good person to talk to and is one of the nicest people I have met in the balloon industry and see what he say's about it.
When it comes to the day I arive at the pearly gates I hope to slide in sideways saying to st Peter WOW!!! what a ride.
