On the above link there is a custom balloon arch using balloons as flowers - about half way down the page.  I have a client whose wanting this or similar for an event (must have surfed the web hard for it).  Anyhow, I think the arch has been helium filled and put on line, but can anyone with more experience give me some guidance at all please.

If anyone has anything better or similar that might be suggested open to other ideas.

Thank you - I seem to get all the difficult ones for a beginner!!!

That would be my guess as well but hopefully someone with decorating knowledge will chip in  :)

Good that makes me feel better.  It only needs to last for one night too.

Dont make it too early, I think that latex helium 11/12" only float for 8 hours.

The Qualitex catalogue lists float time for a 11" as standard & Special colours as 18-24 hours & Metallic & pearl colours as 16-18 hours, as you are adding 5" this will reduce the fly time. Two things to remember 1 fill all the balloons with helium dont use air for the 5" and second tie the 5" in duplets then cut of the nozzle's this will increase the float time. third (I know I said 2 things) get your self on a course you wont regret it you will learn lots of thing like this.

Thanks people.  I did a course to start with but haven't done too much stuff yet on this side of things so lack a little confidence with it (ie just need coaxing to make sure I'm going in the right direction), although will always pull something out of the hat.  Its just I so want it to be right and these are a regular client for our other side of things.  I reckon though its gonna take some time to put together as they want 23 table displays too.  It'll be fine, I'll be bricking it, but will have a little trial run before hand to test it out.  The table displays won't be a problem its just the blessed arch that gets me nervous.

That's one thing I've found people in balloons and face painting etc are very giving with their help and time.  Much appreciated anyway.  :D

Hi raineshoe

There's a product called Ultra Hi-Float which is available from Qualatex (other distributors are available!) - this is a sort of liquid plastic that you pump into the balloon before inflating and it vastly increases the float time of helium filled latex balloons as it coats and seals the interior.  We use it in all our helium filled latex balloons, as it gives a longer lasting product (therefore better value for money) to the customer. Consequently, it means you can probably start your arch ahead of when you originally thought - therefore buying you more time for the other bits and pieces.  Although your arch may only be required for one night, I'd put money on someone taking it (or bits of it) and if you've treated it, it will still look good in their lounge several days after the event.  ;)

Good luck with it though - remember and post a photo!
