Today I was lead astray by Graeme     and decided to buy 100 red foil heart balloons and 3 boxes of weights to sell to restaurants and bars for Valentines weekend next week.

However, nearly as soon as I hit the pay button I noticed my 3 year old son's eye was weepy and after a 2 hour long trip to the out of hours doctors it turns out he has conjunctivitis (on top of his Croup that he has had since Friday).

My plan had been to go out to the bars and restaurants around 11am time on Tuesday when they are quiet and try to speak to the managers as usually I don't collect him from school until 12.30pm by which time my intended clients will be far too busy to talk to me!  However, Adam will now not be at school the next couple of days and I can't really ask anyone else to look after him because conjunctivitis and croup are contagious.

I am hoping he will be well by Wednesday but is this too late?  I had considered popping into the places Tuesday evening but are they going to be too busy to talk to me of an evening?  I had also planned on cold calling the places I intend to visit to double check they are having a valentines event over the weekend so as I don't wast too much time too.

Maybe you could call some venues on the phone, be really excited about what you can offer and how good they will look and then offer to send them a photo via email.

You could probably contact more venues that way than you would by walk or driving to each . . . . . . . now why didn't I think of that before? Might try it myself tomorrow.

Yeah I suppose I could but are they going to buy over the phone or email?  Since my order won't be here until Tuesday I am going to pop to GO and buy 3 full price red hearts and 1 weight so I can do my display model and I am going to put that along with a dozen balloon roses on my home page so the person I am speaking to can have a look whilst we are on the phone.

I find Valentines is about 'couples' Yvonne - my restaurants usualy buy in 2's rather thantehnrmal 3's.

You must have thought yougot hte balloons at an excellent price, there are plenty of offers always around this time of year on red foil hearts.  I sent mail shot out to my restaurants last week and will arrange meeting with them tuesday/wednesday, deliver Friday, saturday or sunday - if little one is ill, phoning whilst he is asleep sounds a great idea, book yourself appointments with them for later in the day or week when hubby or someone else is about to look after him.

Dont forget this year - we personally are promoting them to have foil  balloons to last the weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.. It helps them agree the price is good what you are charging.

If you have any left over Red and hearts seem a popular wedding choice this year up here also.

Oh good idea's Pam and the deal is possibly the same one you have probably got  

I am intrigued by the idea of 2 balloons instead of 3's as it does fit better with valentines but how do you sell this i.e. as table decor or am I missing something (sleep deprivation is really kicking in as I had a really bad back for over a week and it is only just getting better).

Also Pam I would be really grateful if you would share what you charge for these 2 balloon table decorations.  I understand if you would rather not and I fully expect that you would rather not on the open forum.

If anyone has seen a really good deal on bulk red hearts then please could you point me to it!
