MAGIC MOUSE

Available from http://www.slightlytwistedballoons.com priced $15

This is the second PDF release from Dylan within the last week. I saw this mouse design posted on these forums many months ago and really wanted to learn how to make it. Imagine my delight when Dylan told me he was releasing it. If you have already purchased Dylan's Leprechaun design then you will know what to expect with the PDF.

The instruction layout is very logical, lots of photos and sufficient text for you to understand what needs to be done. There is only one area that needs extra attention and that for me was the broom as I couldn't quite get to grips with Dylan's explanation. I fed this back and Dylan may well have changed it in his updated instructions.

It is rare these days that I am very excited by a new set of instructions but this one surprises you as you go along. Halfway through I was thinking my version wasn't looking very good but suddenly when you add the rim of the hat or the back of the cape everything falls into place.

There are so many excellent parts to this design that it is hard to mention just one... the way the ears are held in position, the simple cape design which looks so impressive, the facial expression, the sleeves,  the broomstick - it is just so brilliant.

I feel you need to be an advanced twister to make use of this design. We still have the wonderful sidewall bubble in the 260Q and twisting off lobes. But if you are not yet there in your twisting capability this is something to aspire to.

From my first attempt I would say the upper jaw is slightly too big but that's because the first one popped and I had to add another!

I am truly stunned by the quality of this design - $15 is an absolute bargain.

Darren when I first saw this on the forum, it instantly became my favourite balloon, alas it was just an image, to have instructions, well that has just made my day. To say I am excited is an understatement!!

I am with you, I went all out and bought Pieter Van Engen's DVDs and Books and told myself, NO MORE.  then Dylan had to ruin that with his excellent designs and instructions.
   My budgeting sucks too!

Don't see it as a lack of budgetary control. See it as a sharp eye for business investment. I'm sure you can sell your first mouse for at least $15 turning all future mouses into profit! Therefore having more money to spend on books and DVDs.

You're right of course nippy, but first I have to turn this into a business and stop playing around LOLOLOL.  Anyway here is my attempt, and you know, I'm proud of it!!

And so you should be proud Millie - that's brilliant - well done.

How did you find the instructions? Easy to follow or where some parts a little tricky? I see you managed the sidewall bubble :-)

Actually nippy, I did have trouble with a couple of parts of the instructions - mainly the broom, but also attaching the hands.  But I read and re-read them until I got it.  The sidewall bubble - well now let me say this, I honestly don't mind doing them at all now.   Thanks for your great review on this because I just wouldn't have bothered buying the instructions if I hadn't read it, good investment.

I had an enquiry about some wedding entertainment this evening. The lady said her 4yr old daughter loves Mickey Mouse and can I make a special balloon for her as a bridesmaid. Perfect timing- emailed her a photo of the mouse I made and she immediately booked. So a $15 investment turned into $450... now that's what a call a great investment. Many thanks Dylan :)

Nice work Rob - if I was being critical I would say raise the brown bow up higher as it will give Mickey's coat a nicer shape...
