Title: Ben Ten
Post by: masqueradeface on January 18, 2009, 07:04:58 PM
Hello there

Has anyone made a large Ben Ten model suitable for a birthday child? I was pondering between a large stand alone model or even clothes/accessories for child to wear. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Amanda :-)

Ben 10 is more about the watch then the kid, what would be better is one of the alien things he turns into like 4 arms or benwolf not that I watch it you understand :|

Now now Dave it you call it a watch to the kids you will be lynched  ;)  It is his Omnitrix   but I agree most kids would want one of the monsters rather than Ben himself.  I know with the face painting if you can do one of the monsters the little boys are over the moon - even if it is not their favourite one!

Cheers

I suppose i'll have to watch the cartoon to see what the monsters are about then for painting. I'll also check on google pictures and see what that will show. Is the show on ceebebies or whatever its called or another channel?

No Ben 10 is on Nickelodeon.  Google Four Arms and you should find a forum for fans of Ben 10 which has pictures of all 10 monsters.  I have downloaded them to see if I can work out face paints or balloons but won't get a chance over the next few weeks as have too much on.

I did have a picture of a Four Arms monster balloon model someone made somewhere.  Can't remember who are where from though.  I'll go look for it.........

And if anyone does an Omnitrix my son would be eternally grateful.  He keeps pestering me for a balloon one but I can't pick up the courage to even try.  He makes do with one painted on his arm even though he has a toy one anyway

And there is also Ben 10 Alien Force but most will be happy with bog standard Ben 10.

I know I'm a little late with this but I found the pic that someone did of a Four arms monster.

I apologise to the person who made this as I don't remember who they are.  :(

Hopefully it will interest you.

It's my grandson's 7th birthday tomorrow so I thought I'd have a go at Ben 10. So after 30 mins and I'm hapy with the body and legs although next time I would make the inner part of the shoe black. Then I spent hours trying to sort a face out  :(  The first one was to small, would have been OK if I'd made the body/legs smaller. The second one Lyn said made it look like a golfer, and then I tried two more. Can't say I'm 100% happy with any of them and you can see I've been mixing the brands up as well, colours are slightly different shades.
1, First head that was from 260's and too small
2, The second head, golfer?
3, This was the 4th head that I'd made

So I've ended up with this head design which may be influenced by Patrick's little guy design and Christine's version of Ben 10.

I really like this last face!  It's spot on as far as "parody" goes.

Happy twisting,
Bonnie

For a party a while ago, designed a big 4 foot Ben 10, but out of that came a fairly quick but instantly recognisable smaller version.

I don't usually post instructions or pics as i want everything to look perfect, but recently decided to just get some stuff out there if it might be of use to someone...  So here is some fast ugly instructions, taken on my average phone camera... :)

Take a white 260, and marriagetwist a blush 160 into it.  Make a 2 inch bubble in the white for the sleeve, then a pinchtwist for the shoulder attachment.  Repeat so you have two sets, then twist in the middle to make the x in the below picture (apologies for the low quality).
ben-10-a.jpg[/attachment:sxlk1mv5]

Take a black 260, wrap the knot into one of the pinchtwists, make a SOFT 1/2 inch bubble, then the run the balloon down to the join in the whites, twist there then run another bubble the same length up to the top again, lock twist these together as shown...

Now twist another SOFT 1/2 inch bubble and attach to the other white pinchtwist to complete the upper body.

Make two BIG pinch twists with the two whites at the waist as shown below.  Break the whites one by one and make a single foot (3 inch long bubble) from each end as shown below.  Then make a triangle for the legs from a green 260, with two pinchtwists at the bottom two corners for the ankles as shown below...
ben-10-e.jpg[/attachment:1uxszacb]

Fit a blush round for the head and add a green watch and hands and the basic structure is complete.  Make the arms a little shorter than in the photo, and only one broken blush 160 can be used.
ben-10-e.jpg[/attachment:1uxszacb]

This design is quite suitable for line twisting, taking 3-4 minutes and only using 4-6 balloons with very little complex twisting.  Adding a few extra details like lines drawn on the shoes, hair with a lootle type face instead of the blush round, and black at the end of the sleeves (balloons or markers) and you have a 6 minute masterpiece that is instantly recognisable.

And it look much better when I spend more time on the photo's and don't have two kids trying to twist it at the same time... :)

Here's a fairly quick Omnitrix. It would be cool to put a light in it. I have some Qualatex sparkle collars, Becket. When I have time I will try to incorporate one.Omnitrix-Parody.jpg[/attachment:em3ny8ic]

I know this thread has been going for a while but I thought I would share my latest attempt at Ben 10.

I've used a heart for his head with 4 raisin twists to attach ears and hair to. I think I need to proportion the legs better but I am happy with the face.

Nice work.  Four raisins? it sounds delicious.

Does your torso have 4 white balloons or two. If it has four, you can pull the arms down and tuck them between the white sides. If you do this you'll probably have to add a pair of pinch twist at the base of the neck to support the head.

Hi Sean

There are 3 white bubbles from a 350q and one black from a 260q to form the front of his shirt.

I've had a couple of parties to do recently with a Ben 10 theme and actually managed to get some pictures of some of the special birthday models. The first is Four Arms and whilst there is no actual reference point for you he was about 3 ft high and nearly as wide with all his arms. It's strange really the body and arms flew together, but the head seemed to take a long time to come up with and I'm still not sure that I'm entirely happy with it, though everyone else at the party wanted one :) .

This weekend I had another request from a birthday child for a Ben10. As with most of the models I make like this I had the vision of what I wanted it to look like and it seemed to go together exactly as I wanted it to...Until I got to the head :(. What you can see in the picture underneath is the fourth attempt. The first made him look too old, the second was too high once the hair had been put on. The third I made using a round balloon, but none of these looked quite right. I was running out of time fast before the party and decided to have a quick look on here for inspiration. Many thanks go to Graham  :)  for posting up his head problems too, and the inspiration for the finished Ben.

I added the picture to my gallery first then when writing the previous post used the input option. I thought it looked a little on the small side when the post came up. Will repost the old way :).
