Just posted another tutorial video:

It is a fairly simple rifle that I do while line twisting. I will leave the Scope off if I am busy as it will save one complete balloon and make the initial twisting easier.

Yikes... you do that design in New England? It's nice and all, but I couldn't imagine doing a fire arm for kids in this political climate. I'm sure some people would love it, but I'd be worried that others would be horribly offended. Maybe I shouldn't worry so much about that, though... I had decided that I would shy away from even things like laser guns, but maybe I'll revisit that if you get away with this, lol.

Really nice design, though.

When a kid asks for a rifle - or any gun - I ask their parents if it's ok. It their parents aren't around, they have to choose something else. I've had two parents tell their kids to pick something else, the rest haven't minded.

Actually, the event I was doing where I originally came up with this (and then made at least 10 more) was a Police Station open house. I figured a lot of the kids their were related to the police in some way, or maybe just wanted to be a policeman someday. I made the tutorial because I just made this last weekend at a Rec center Easter Egg Hunt. When I finished it, I got a round of applause.

I do think your over thinking this. I don't think people mind. If you're not making certain kinds of weapons because you have a personal feeling on the issue I totally understand that and have some very close twister friends who feel the same way. But if your reason is that you think other people at the event will be offended I would test the waters to see the reaction.

Wow, that's interesting. I'm brand new to twisting... I haven't done any events outside of a party my wife had recently, but I may try it. I have nothing opposed to toy weapons, I just felt that some might (understandably) find it in poor taste to have kids running around with balloon guns shooting each other. I live in CT, about an hour outside if Newtown, so that's why I was thinking this, but if your in the Manchester area it's probably not that much different :)

Nice Rifle Sean! ;)

tdk27.
You could also make a more fun laser type looking gun for the children, as children watch space type, shoot-em up cartoons everywhere in the world and for some reason this seems to be more accepted than the real life type guns. I normally make my own creation laser gun, its fast for line work and it shoots also. I don't want to hijack Sean's topic so i wont post a pic. But you can find my gun on here in the search.
