Hi Graham, I would like to have a go at weaving and this looks like a fun idea, however I can't get my head around the first pinch twist. Six 260s together at the tip, but where exactly do I pinch twist? It looks like just a red balloon has been twisted. Would it be enough (for now at least to simply wrap the 6 tied balloons together? And the flowers are beautiful but for now its a bit beyond me to work it out!

Make the pinch twist in one of the 6 balloons tied together.

I tried this yesterday, it didn't turn out too bad, but there is obviously something I'm not doing right. I wonder if anyone is able to give me any advice for tidying it up.
One mistake I made was making the sides too long, too quickly so as you can see it turned out more like a hat than a vase!

If you made it three times today and numbered them I'm sure number three would look better than one, just practice.
It does look like you have a few double pinch twists on some of the joints though?

The twists were so small that air got squeezed through to one side and they sort of folded. There is only one pinch twist. I can't work that bit out though. On yours, I can't see any pinch twists. Just the small bubble that precedes it.

Ij'm a little bit stumped by this tutorial - the vase I think I can manage and am going to have a go at it tomorrow. The flowers though, I don't understand. I've got the four 160s and tied them together at the knot. I've twisted each on in half and put that around the the pinch twist in the bottom of the vase. But I'm now left with some ends tied together - surely there is no need to tie them together in the first place, or am I missing something here?!

Could you post a picture of where you are up to then we can see and give advice better.

Mujician, I think this video will help. Whilst it is not a vase, the weave is similar and will explain why you don't need pinch twists all the way down. As for tying 160s together and then wrapping, this will prevent them coming undone more easily once finished (single balloons with nozzles wrapped round a pinch twist can come free again in a child's hands)

Like Graham says, practice will help you iron out any difficulties

I thought the idea was to twist the knotted part of the tied balloons around the vase pinch-twist which gives you FOUR FLOWER STEMS & then fully inflate two more 160's and twist them in half before twisting them around the vase pinch-twist.
That will give you another FOUR FLOWERS STEMS and you should have EIGHT FLOWER STEMS.   The longer 160 stems are then used to create leaves

Sorry, didn't take a photo, balloons perished in the heat, I get it now. Thanks

I had an order for flowers in a vase - so I looked at the tutorial. It was a great help with tying the stems to the pinch twist at the beginning.

The customer rang me earlier in the day to ask if i could make it bigger and he would pay more. So I enlarged the woven vase, added another couple of flowers and put two double stuffed water weights in the bottom to help stablise it and weigh it down. The customer was very happy!

Hi Graham, just revisiting this. Few questions: does it always have to be six? Could it be more or less?

How easy would it be to make a cylinder?, or a vase with no base?

Sorry does what have to be six?
Petals on flower or the bubbles on the vase for weaving?

They can both be as many or as few as you would like. even size wise you can vary.
