Hi guys,
I just wondered if you guys had any hints and tips for working from a photo.
This is as I have just been asked to do a custom sculpture and have been given a photo of a  mk3 GT Cortina to work from.

Spend a day visualising it in your head, we were going to make a mini and just thinking about starting points etc and what should be more of a focal point helped me.
We also thought about making from 321's may have helped, a bit more expensive but if you get a pop easier to mange so in the long run it may have helped out.
You could post the picture here and we may be able to suggest things?

Is it life size or small sculpture size?

Think about the various shapes that go to make up the whole car. Are they oblongs, squares?

I hope this helps a little!

Thanks for the tips so far guys I really appreciate it.
The model needs to be a fairly small one really do I thought about maybe making it in 160s so I could add more detail easily?

The bigger balloons you use for the body the more detail can be added with 260's and 160's.

I wanted to say thanks for the advice and post what I eventually came up with.
The model I ended up making ended up looking very cartoon like, which I liked and ended up giving it eyes.
It looked better in real life than in the photo, just couldn't seem to capture it well.
I thought it looked a bit like Mater from the film Cars so may have a go at that soon too.

Seem to have a bit of a thing for cars at the moment as I ended up making a racing car from a photo and basically based on David Grist's design I think. I made this for my sister as she is working on a F1 film at the moment and it went down brilliantly, really chuffed with it so I thought I would share.
