Title: 17th July 2008
Post by: Dave on May 14, 2008, 10:32:00 AM
Next balloon jam in the west will be on the 17th July (1st year yay) will most probably be at the Globe inn, Saltford near Bath. it looks like some twisters from Cardiff and the Cotswold will be coming this time, hopefully break the 20 mark ;) all you need to bring is a pump and balloons, will start with a hat challenge then work on 2 basic line models for beginners, then probably a weave. But most of the time your free to twist and network 8-)

Don't forget this Thursdays' balloon jam, sorry I haven't sent out a reminder before hand and thank you to those that have let me know already that they won't be able to come as it helps me know numbers.
This time as well as the normal jamming and networking, I would like to have a chat about line work and how we cope with it lol.
Also some requests to think about a 2 balloon cat, wearables ie hats, bracelets and ride in balloons.
Again please give me a yes, no or maybe.

Dave,

I was hoping people would come up to the Manchester day on Thursday 17th July.
Shame you have put this on when a care & share day is going on as well :o

LOL sorry graham you didn't have a definite date at the time I arranged it, the last message I sent is a reminder. anyway most twisters that attend my jams are from the south/south west, plus they have to bring their own balloons.

The date has been confirmed since Jan/Feb & advertised on the website.
How about hiring a mini bus between you all & having a day out in Manchester as it's not too far to travel & we have Daniel as the mystery instructor.

I think you have a right cheek Dave.  Not just to plan a balloon jam on the same day as Grahams but to actually use Grahams forum to advertise it.  Wow.  Nice one Dave.  I am a bit taken aback.  Never would have put you down to do that!!!

I have made the decision to stop doing the jams for a while as they are poorly attended and now politics are getting involved.
To be honest Graham I didn't think, I only look at the dates you do down south and I was trying to accommodate 1 off the twisters that normally gives a lot at the jams. I am also sorry if I have caused any upset with advertising my jam on here, it wont happen again.
Hope the day goes well tomorrow.
Yours very embarrassed Dave

I dont think there is any thing wrong with putting a free balloon jam on here as long as you ask graham which dave did do its not like dave is selling balloons or any where near where graham is doing his

And Thelma I think you have a cheek if any one should say any thing it should be graham.
Also you are not the owner of the site and you sell your cd-rom on here.

Hi Guys, settle down slightly.

I dont believe Dave meant any harm by holding a Jam, and certainly doesnt come across as deliberately trying to annoy Graham by holding his on the same day.

I view things this way... What harm is he doing by arranging to hire a room for the day for people to get together and share ideas?A

fter all its no different to those who share ideas on here, or meet up at home with other locals to discuss ideas.

If i may be so bold, i would suggest Graham freeze this thread so that people cant post to it before it gets to out of hand.

Pete

Dave,  I want to apologise and no hold back.  I saw the posts and thought it was bad to plan a jam on the same day as Grahams and post about it on his site and said what I said.  But I apologise.  I have a faster mouth then head if you know what I mean.  I do think it is really nice that you wanted to go to the trouble of organising a free jam.  It can be hard work to sort out and sometimes a totally thankless job but on the other hand sometimes it can be very rewarding when it all goes smoothly.  I have enjoyed our chats and enjoyed meeting you and thought you were ok.  I was surprised at the situation I was reading.  However as Craige said I had no right to say what I said and yes "Shame on me"  I hope we can let this go.  I am sure we have all said things we have regretted.  I am not good at "people skills"  I put my foot in it. I dont want to be in a state of mind where I feel I wont ever voice an opinion because it is safer not to say something but I should think before I type and not be so stong with my words.  I did not mean to be "political" If I could take it back I would.  I am not inclined to delete my post though.  That is just cowardly.  Anyway what else can I say?  Sorry.

Hey, I LOVE all you guys, and find you all so generous and good to know online. Please don't fight! :( Dave and Thelma I count as my good mates, and I know you both only mean good. Good courage, Thelma, for not removing your post, as I know some people that do when they've been proved wrong. ;)

Hey, won't somebody come over here and run a jam in NZ that I can come to? :?: Charles Dolbel runs one in Auckland - a two hour one that takes me two hours to drive to and from.  :( You guys are so lucky to be able to go to jams.

Cheers,
Kath 8-)

P.S. Graham, please don't remove the posts - censorship has its place, but I don't like people changing the past.

Hey hey! This is a clean forum - none of that! Besides, I feel left out.  :(

My own design? I wish! Dave, the cat is great isn't it? It's off Thelma's "Two and a Bit". Have a look at my review of it in the general discussion thread - I've posted several pics, and Bickers has also posted some pics. The CD is great, with 19 cool models. I like the cat, and since I'm "Kool Kat the Puppet Lady", I think I'll try to get it memorised pretty quickly, and up to speed so I can maybe use it as my signature balloon. You OK with that, Thelma?

Cheers,
Kath 8-)
