We have moved the dates around for Leeds and Bishops stortford as Ken Stillman who we are trying to book is coming over now in November and we needed the last main lecture of the year to be in Leeds. The day will probably not be at Qualatex's HQ, I will book a hall nearby. The day will run from 10 till approx 5.oo p.m.
So Ken will be doing Leeds? what date?
Nothing is confirmed as yet but this is what we are trying to arrange.
I would like a day in the Bishops Stortford area to go ahead, so was thinking it could be a non BAG day with a fee of £10 for everyone and bring your own balloons. I'm happy to do an hour lecture, we will need 15 people minimum to cover hall costs etc and I was thinking about the 19th Oct so we can advertise the day for a few more weeks.
I know we arent likely to go to Bishop Stortford because of distance ( and being busier in October) Sorry... But I personally think thats an excellent idea Graham..
It could be a day to see if this style of day will work...
All those in the area, offer to do a lecture/talk too.. could be your turn to share with everyone

Hi Graham
If you can do the 19th October I can come along...
Finally sorted the day, it will be on Wed 12th Oct and is a non BAG day so everyone that attends will have to pay a £10 fee to help cover the hall costs etc.
This is a non BAG event due to us putting on to many days this year, oops!
Please also bring your own balloons along to play with. I will do a basic class in the morning first thing and then a request lecture, I liked the way this went at the Twistina lecture so if I make it I'm happy to show my version. I'm pretty sure that we will also have a couple of lecture/guest spots so making a nice fun day for everyone. We also go out for a meal after and everyone is most welcome.
Please try and book ASAP as we do need a minimum of 15 for the day to go ahead.

I've booked! 14 to go....
Sorry cant make this one, baby sitting grand kids whilst daughter goes off for a few days to celerbrate her birthday.
What time would it finish?
I'm in uni that morning but if I could get there with a decent amount of time to spare I would love to come.
They normally run from 10 till 5 or 5.30
Talk to Qualatex, they used to hire a room years ago that was not far from the old offices not far down teh road from the ones they are in now.
It was a small community centre.. Roger and us did our sculpture class in it..
Also the hotel directly behind qualatex has alot of seminar days booked into it,so may be a reasonable hire for the room

Is anyone travelling along the M4 from the West to Bishop Stortford? I am looking to share a lift with someone travelling there and back the same day. I live in South Wales, so could meet up anywhere along the M4 corridor.
Many thanks in advance
Amanda
Could do with a few more booking for this day as we only have five at the moment, it may end up all round my house for a twisting session.
Here are the booking details, it's only £10 to come along just so that we cover the hall costs and some petrol, http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk/catal ... -23-1.html (http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk/catalog/Care_Share_Days-23-1.html)
I am trying to get time off from my day job to get along
I'm coming! Anyone going past Bishop's Stortford station in a car that want's to pick up a hitcher - me.... would be appreciated. If not see you there everyone.
xxxxxxxx
thought i bite the bullet and come out of hiding just booked, please be gentle with me
Hi Kevin
It will be good to see you there. We are a friendly bunch.
See you soon
Darren
I had hoped to come but have just agreed to do a 2 day wedding fair that weekend so will not have time as too much prep work to do!
I too have booked and am looking forward to it.
Is there an address for the day? Or is it at Graham's house! ;)
It was a bit awkward booking a hall and in our price range, budget, but have now just found one. The day will be at;
Bishops Stortford Football Club
Woodside Park
Woodside Industrial Estate
Dunmow Road
CM23 5RG
The day will run from 10 till 5
Can anyone offer a lift from London to Bishops Stortford? I'd be happy to contribute for petrol.
Or even a lift from the rail station to the venue to save a taxi fare?
thanks
Danny
I believe we are up to 15 people attending the day at the moment. We have Tony Hanscombe and Darrren (nippy99) both doing a spot for us plus my basic session first thing which again will be a what would you like to see know session as I thought that went reasonably well when we tried it for the first time at the Twistina day. And then there will be two extra spots, one by Thelma which she does not know about, fingers crossed she makes the day as she has just got back form a break in America and then I thought I'd show one of the hats that I have just put onto the DVD. So a pretty full day, a word of warning that everyone that turns up will also have to show and tell with a short spot. Well it may just be a show your favourite quick and easy model for the real world and why it's your favourite etc. Looking forward to a fun day and after we will be going out for a meal, all are welcome.
Don't get too excited about my 'spot' - please leave all your tomato and cabbages at home.
:P

You will be fine Darren, the same as everyone else. There is no need to worry as you are amongst friends, we all have one common goal apart from taking the mickey out of each other and that is we all want to help improve our balloon modelling and the way the public look at our art form.
No matter how long I have been twisting I still get excited about the days and going out entertaining, I still get that excitement/buzz and may it long continue.
Hear hear - it will be great. Is it true we need to bring balloons? xx

Yes it is, we get sponsored from Qualatex for seven days throughout the year and we have done 13/14 days this year already.
Wow, just a quick post to say today was fantastic. It was wonderful to spend the day with a group of lovely and sharing people both beginners and seasoned pros. I think everyone got something out of today.
Thanks to everyone who presented today and the stand-up routine from our first lecturer was outstanding. Bernard Manning would be turning in his grave.
I am sure a few photos will appear here soon.
Thanks to Graham and Lynn for their usual efforts and well done to everyone for tidying up afterwards
Just got back from a great day. Thank you to Graham and Lyn, and all the contributors of the day.
As per usual, I learnt loads and had much fun throughout the day.
:)
What a fantastic day, many thanks to Graham, Lyn and all who 'did a spot'. I don't remember laughing so much.
I think it was a corker of a day, so funny as it was just what the doctor ordered. Many thanks to Tony, Darren and Thelma for all doing a 45 minute spot. Tony was so funny with his good gags and some well corny non PC gags as well, people surprise you sometimes. Also thanks to everyone who did a short 5 min show and tell, Colin, Colin, Danny, Dan, Steve and Natalie. I think that was everyone but apologies if I have forgotten anyone. Will try and put some pictures up tomorrow and it was lovely of those who brought along cakes, biscuits etc, especially Darren as I think he must have bought the whole shop supply of donuts for the day.
Just wanted to say I also thoroughly enjoyed today. I loved seeing people get up to show the single models and ideas. What a great idea. Some lovely ideas coming out. Had such a good laugh too. Thanks everyone. Thanks Lyn and Graham for organising another brill day and also thanks to Lyn for putting up with us all. I took as photo and then my battery went flat so can't contribute any photos of today. Sorry.
A few creations from today...
A wonderful spider from Thelma..

Colin's single balloon frog...
408-frog.jpg[/attachment:2w2sqe9b]
And Colin's top tip for drawing mouth's - you had to be there to get this one!
409-dinosaur.jpg[/attachment:2w2sqe9b]
Plus Thelma shared her princess bracelet, Steve his caterpillar of unknown origins, Natalie's dolphin bracelet, Danny's boat and gentleman who's name escapes me sorry (was it Dan?) who showed a great bow and arrow plus a laser gun.
I know I have missed someone out!
another great day all have a good laugh .... looking forward to the Leeds days ,,, thanks for the birthday song :) in pub
Just to say a big thank you to everyone for such a great time yesterday hadn't laugh that much in ages, nice to meet such a friendly bunch. :D
I love that little motorcycle Nippy/Graham. I jumped up and made one as soon as I saw it.
I had Patrick's 10 minute motorcycle, Bonnie's 3 balloon motorcycle, and a one balloon 'motorcycle'.
But this one is so fast, clean, and unmistakable. Great model.
A few pictures from the day, some variations on the bike.
Tony Hanscombe, aka Tony Chestnut, aka you had to be there!
Tony started off the day very well with some corny old jokes and some good tips when working the real world, his display, end of line banner and the blush balloon is Tony's version of a rainbow. He was very funny so thanks Tony for coming along and doing a spot for everyone.
Some more pictures from Tony's workshop;
Some variations of Tony's Angel that did have a name, something about Mary but I forgot the full title he gave it.
Some lady bugs and Erin's bag of balloons all ready to take home.
More fun from the day;
Colin and his helicopter, well Colin's hand and helicopter to be exact and Darren starting the second workshop which was a montage to David Grist.
Off out to the magic club now so will post some more pictures tomorrow.
QuoteSome variations of Tony's Angel that did have a name, something about Mary but I forgot the full title he gave it.
I think it was Mary the fairy whose not very hairy!
Absolutely classic :D
Some more pictures from the day;
Amanda's snow man variation, Colin doing his spot where he showed the one balloon frog and an excellent idea for drawing onto the models.
Colin's frog and dino, I accidently stood on Thelma's angel and popped one of the wings so now it's playing a harp.
Thelma made a spider, girl/princess on a wrist and snowman.
Oh and a seal puppy, can you guess who decided to club it to death?
Thelma's snowman and some models from the day;
Colin just about to make his space gun and bow and arrow.
A variation of Danny's boat which I have not got a picture of, oops sorry.
Dan and his ladybird.
Steve and his caterpillar.
Adding to the boat.
Natalie and her dolphin.
Tony with his elephant hat.
So who was clubbing the seal pup, yes it was Danny!
May I just add what a truely brilliant, laughter filled day.......It was well worth the journey....every mile of it.
Many, many thanks Graham and Lynne and to all who attended and made the day so special, oh and too my chaffeur, AKA Tony T. :-)
Hi everyone, just wanted to say a massive thank you from me and Anne Marie. We both learned so much and everyone there was really patient with us (as we were learners). What a great bunch of people, we had such a laugh. It was a real shame that we had to leave early and miss the rest. We can't wait to go on another balloon day soon.
Thanks. Lisa xxxxxx
Hi Lisa
It was lovely to meet with you and Anne-Marie. Despite being a little apprehensive you really got involved and it was lovely spending the day with you both. I hope you learned some new designs and I am sure you left the day as an even better twister. If I can help in anyway just give me a shout.
Take care
Darren
Hi Lisa, it was nice meeting you both at the day and congratulations on your first post :D
Hi everyone who was at the Care and Share day at Bishop Stortford,
I noticed the other day after i left that i didnt have my qualatex balloon pump. I don't suppose one was found or picked up. It would be great to have it back, but knowing me i might have left it anywhere. lol
Great to hear from you darren and graham, i hope your both well and keeping busy. xxxxxxxxx
