We have just finalised the arrangements, we have a deco/twisting day on Wed 23rd Oct with Roger Daws running the event and then on
Thursday 24th Oct we have flying in from the USA Brian Asman from the TV series, "The un-Poppables"
This is episode one from you tube if you would like to view, I think it was a 6 part series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e48-3EMOEkk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e48-3EMOEkk)
I will be putting the booking details up later on the website, http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk (http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk)
Forgot to mention the price of the deco/twisting will be £25 for the early bird and then £35 and for Brian £35 on the early bird and then £50.
The early bird is for the first 10 people to book via the website only.
Both days are free to Balloon Artistes Guild Members, for more info on joining the guild, the-balloon-artistes-guild-t6454.html (http://balloonchat.co.uk/the-balloon-artistes-guild-t6454.html)
The fee is £120 to attend all 10 events throughout the year and to get 3 DVD's from the star lecture days that are filmed.
I have put the booking details onto the website now, http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk/catal ... -23-1.html (http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk/catalog/Care_Share_Days-23-1.html)
One slight problem is the Sutton day may have to move to Carshalton due to the football club being booked on the Wed,
Carshalton is only 2 miles away from Sutton so same area.
Hello Forum!
I am happy and honored to be hosted by Graham for the lecture on October 24th. I have a number of designs in store that haven't been shared anywhere in the world yet. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones as well.
See you all soon!
Brian
Looking forward to it already, I will be there :-)
At the third time of trying I have now booked and confirmed and even left a deposit on a venue, Sutton Utd Football Club was booked, Carshalton Athletic Football Club was too small and Banstead Athletic Football Club was just right. So the full venue address is,
Banstead Athletic F.C.
Merland Rise
Tadworth
Surrey
KT20 5JG
Really looking forward to it :) See you there! X
just booked a night at Epsom South Premier Inn. so no sitting in that m25 traffic again :)
Just booked the premier inn for the one night. It was £39 but the same price as the travellodge, but with parking a bar and nearer.
Hello All
I can't wait for this one. Which Premier Inn have you booked, Steve?
A :-)
Aha, i have just read the previous post, i missed that first time round! Epsom south is just 1.4 miles away from the venue. Rooms are priced at £39.:-)
I am booked into Epsom south premier inn too for 2 nights :-)
Just booked up for this with Graham, and really looking foreward to it, Is Epsom South Premier the one where we all seem to be staying xx
I think so, Kevin:-)
Put me down for both days, will see if I can book room.
wow £101! travel lodge £39
Travel Lodge booked :)
After the fun we had with Travelodge and Wolverhampton for the kidology convention I would suggest you called them the morning of the booking to confirm you will be arriving and using the room.
Normally I get the lecturers balloon list last minute and it's a rush to get everything in and sorted so I sent Brian an email this morning about what was required and straight back I get his list :D Excellent as I now have a couple of weeks to sort it all out, must get onto Roger now as well. There are still a few early bird specials available for this two day extravaganza.
Barbara is coming up from Somerset way and has two spare seats if anyone would like a lift.
Hi all Just a little taste of what I am intending to teach.
My intention is to make this a real combination of Decor and twisting, in other words show how the twisting skills or decor skills you already have can be used in combination. Then hopefully this will give you something a little different to sell to your customers.
First we will be creating an entrance way. I am going to theme it around Halloween but also intend to show how it could be adapted for other occasions. (It will have elements involving the new Qualatex Quick Links).
Then in the afternoon we will go on to make air filled table decorations. Again themed around Halloween but again I intend to show how they can be adapted for other occasions.
For those that came to my last class you will know how it worked as in I showed the basic's and you have the chance to use your ideas to adapt it so hopefully we will end up with several variations that we all can learn from.
Finally as most people that know me will be aware I like my kit, and I will be bringing an assortment of decor pumps that you can try Conwin, Zibi, Premier so this could be a good chance for you to try before you buy.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday
Roger.
Thanks for the above info Roger.
Off to the airport at lunchtime to pick Brian up :D Called the venue, all booked in and a OK. We also have a tea ern :)
Please say a big hello to Brian from me. Gutted I can't come to both days as I'm working.
Quote from: "Danny the Idiot"Please say a big hello to Brian from me. Gutted I can't come to both days as I'm working.
Sorry you will miss the days Danny, at least you are a BAG (Balloon Artistes Guild) member so will get the DVD of the star lecture day :D
As they say....................Brian is in the building, not only that but he has given me a little lesson on Dreamweaver CS4 :D
This is the programme that I alter the news page on the forum and since it was updated from CS3 I have been struggling a little.
So hopefully I can add a little more colour/font size/boxes/coloured backgrounds with a little luck and a fair wind.
Gutted I can't make this one I have nagged for Brian to come over to teach and I can't make it :( really looking forward to the DVD though.

Yep agreed gutted I can't get there either. Make sure there are lots of pictures and very excited about the DVD:-) rob
Just back from day one :D Very informative and Roger shared his years of experience and also brought along his pumps, he has sooooooooooo many ;)
Will post pictures later, maybe not till the weekend as we have Brian tomorrow and then I'm showing Brian around London on Friday.
I had a brilliant day yesterday at the event.
Another excellent talk and demonstration from Roger with new ideas, creative and business related, and also inspiration.
Good to meet up with old and new friends and have a dinner.
Off to work today which is good, but will unfortunately miss the Brian Asman star lecture day 2.
Didn't get a chance to quiz Brian on his material for the day but will be eagerly waiting for my Balloon Artistes Guild DVD!
Have a great day and see you all soon,
David
David Crofts
Been back a little while from the day. I think it turned out nice again :D
Probably more than nice. Plenty of pictures from the day and memories as well. Will post pictures over the weekend.
got to say these days seem to get better every time,
just glad I made this one, Roger with some great tips for deco and Brian for putting the fun factor in in his creations, I must say what nice person he was giving his time to every one. what a great crowd of people sharing ideas and smiles.
many thanks to Graham and every one else for a fantastic time
kevin
I had an awesome 2 days, Thanks to Roger and Brian for sharing their knowledge with us and thanks to everyone there who made it such a fun 2 days.
Wow
The last two days were brilliant. As with previous comments I came away with some great tips from Roger and had a few "Oh wow" moments from Rogers workshop with some basic things that will improve my décor work no end. Sometimes people suggest ways to do things that are like a light being turned on. So Roger, thanks "I can see clearly now :D" My displays will look that much better now.
Brian Asman's workshop was for me really great. I have been working lately on designs that are good to look at but realistic to make when working and these hit the spot. Loads of stuff to play with there. It was a really long day yesterday with four sets of workshops and Brian must have been very tired. Thank you Brian x
Everyone who attended was lovely too. It was such a friendly helpful enthusiastic group of people. No negativity in the air. Everyone working together and helping each other. Perfect.
Thank you to Graham and Lyn for all the hard work in organising and running these days and for never giving up on them even when it seems to be an up hill battle. I hope I speak for everyone who attended when I say that we all appreciate the effort you put in.
I look forward to meeting you all again in the near future and thank you everyone who cares and shares.
I just had a go at making a model using the body Brian showed us. Also he suggested that a technique I have been playing with would make a great nose. So I put the two together and yes it does. I'm going to work on some more noses now.
Thanks to everyone that came and to Graham and Lyn for all there work on puting this on.
Have just got back from a day out in London with Brian had a great time will post some pictures later.
Yes just got back from a full day out in London, many thanks to Roger the tour guide :D It was a FUN day.
The first of the pictures, these are from the first day with Roger. Kevin looking at the magiflate and Olivia bringing in a box full of cakes and a tray full of sandwiches.
Thanks Olivia, that was kind of you to do that.
Thank you again Graham for having me as a guest lecturer.
Thank you for your lecture, Roger. I've picked up a good number of tips. I truly enjoyed your insights and methods. Thanks for the tour as well.
Thank you to everyone in attendance for my lecture. It was a pleasure meeting and working with you all. For those of you waiting for the DVD, there were a few thoughts, methods and techniques explained while the attendees built their own sculptures. I can easily see the benefit of attending these lectures in person.
I hope to return sometime in the near future.
Sincerely,
Brian Asman
Had an amazing time, thank you to graham, Lyn, Roger and Brian.
I have already made the bird and snake for the public and they love them!
Hello All
I must agree with all that has been said regarding all who made this a truly successful event ( yet again) ....
Who would have thought theses days could just keep giving?
What a great two days!! I learnt plenty of techniques, hints and tips from both Roger and Brian. It was more than worth the 5 am start on Wednesday morning.
And what a food table, plenty of goodies to keep us going...but I was good this time, honest:-)
Many, many thanks to everyone but especially Graham, Lynne, Roger and Brian.
Amanda having her cornflakes before the start of the day :)
Some pictures from the event, these are from day one with Roger. Roger certainly likes his electric pumps, we lost count of how many he has. I think he brought five to the day.
Roger loves his red pump which are now very difficult to get hold off.
For some reason there was a little laughter when Roger was showing how to attach his 5" balloons to his pole. No idea why though ;) :D
On Friday Graham and I took Brian on a little tour of London.
Roger making the pillars for the gate, the amount of tips and tricks of the trade he shared was great. You do need to see if you can get along to some of the events.
I think this was the start of Olivia's birthday cake.
Roger spent a lot of time pre-making sculptures and went into great detail during the day to make his day a great success which it was, thanks Roger.
Andrew made a nice quick and easy turtle hairband.
The Grey balloon was thrown away due to I think it being too small for one of the gargoyles on the gate, I saw it on the floor and thought it looked like an oven ready chicken.
What a lovely group of people led by a couple of talented and passionate teachers! Thank you Graham, Lynn, Roger and Brian for two wonderful days. Everyone was so positive and friendly, it is always such a joy to twist the day away with friends!
Looking forward to the next one!
And after Tess made the comment above here she is with Kevin :)
Everyone working away to make there own columns,
I think these were made in the afternoon on the first day, still plenty more to add.
Roger explaining how he gets the correct height for table centre pieces.
The ghost should have been in White but there was a technical problem, I had sold all the stock of 5" White, oops!!
David Crofts made the peppa pig.
I have added a couple of pictures from the day to the members only section as they are of an adult nature and the forum is open to all and we do not want to upset anyone.
If you would like to join the members only section you have to have a minimum of 50 posts and also to do the interview a balloon chat member.
A very big thank you to all who attended and made for a lovely two days of comradeship with a lovely atmosphere. It was FUN :D

David Crofts made the peppa pig.
It's nice to know I had some input on the day even though I wasn't there.... you sent me your last bag!
One of the centre pieces from the afternoon session.
Crofty and Mr Pumpkin man.
Kevin, Mr Wiggles has spent a lot of time customising his balloon cart.
Kevin from Weymouth made the Devil for his centre piece.
Some people just leave things laying around, nice to know they feel comfortable to do this, but!!
Someone found some White 5" rounds
Two more centre pieces and then Dave making his entrance into the room.
Another centre piece made in the afternoon.
Roger showed a couple of variations on how to achieve the same effect with wrapping the balloons around the centre pole.
There was so much being made by everyone that I'm sure I missed a few things.
I was not intending to show the short twisted column as this is what I taught last time but I was asked by a lot of people to show it so I squeezed it in at the end.
So glad you did Roger, as I couldn't get to your last session
Many thanks :D
Some of the group at the end of day one with Roger Daws. Roger............Thank You, it was great with so much information shared with those attending.
The first session of the star lecture day with Brian Asman, it was a great day. Club members will get the DVD but I have not had time to take to Lord G as yet.
He was on Holiday last week and I'm in Germany next week so maybe sometime in the new year it will be available.
The selection from part one of the lecture,
Awesome 2 days, thanks to Roger and Brian for all the interesting ideas and techniques x
My version of Brian's first session sculptures.
Trying some variations for the snake,
There were so many variations on a theme being made that I'm sure I must have missed a few.
Looks amazing - gutted I missed it but been in and out of hospital again and just wasn't well enough to attend :( looks like you all had a FAB time though :) xxx

Hope things work out OK for you Sonia. Xx
After a little break in Germany for Euro-jam here are some more pictures for the two day spectacular,
Brian actually turned up in Germany for the day,
The three wise monkeys?
Brian shared so many concepts and idea's during the day. The days are so much more than just the models and the pictures,
you pick up so much more from actually attending the days so maybe we will see you at the next care & share day?
My attempt at the bear Brian showed at the day,
Some variations on the bird that Brian showed,
Different variations that people made at the day,
Brian's concept for the head design was very interesting, I made a variation on Brian's monkey.
Still a few more pictures to post but I think it turned out to be another excellent two day spectacular :)
The last few from the event,
Many thanks to all who attended the two say spectacular, hoping everyone had a nice time and thanks to all who helped keep the venue clean and tidy and helped us in and out with stock etc. Still to take the recording down to Lord G so that he can start to edit the filming for us.
OOOPsss
I just found a load more pictures form the day that I had not re-sized, still plenty more to post.
Some more pictures from the final session that was on faces,
.
Nearly to the end of the pictures from Brian's workshop/lecture then we have our sightseeing trip pictures to view, :)
Brian and his posh poodle,
The start of the tourist pictures, I will only post a few to give you a feel of where we went and what Brian, Roger and I got up to the day after the workshop.
We walked along the south bank and had a nice lunch before then setting off on a river cruise and hoping off along the way to view a few London sites.
We got back on the river cruise and went to Greenwich and had a look at the observatory and the date line and then we all went and had a look around a little market in the town centre,
it was excellent. Very unusual things being sold and to finish off the day we had a traditional Pie and Mash meal. It was an enjoyable day with lovely company.
That is all the pictures from the two day spectacular that was held back in October, there have been a few events lately and getting the time to add everything has taken me a while.
I couldn't wait any longer for this TBAG DVD so I had a go at making Brian's ladybug design. It helps if you have some really fresh black rounds as my ones kept leaking air at the nozzle. I also inserted the eyes before folding over the bug's nose. A really cute design. I prefer to draw on the dots as the black ink is darker than the pre-printed balloons. I can't wait to receive the proper DVD now!
SAM_0080-chat.jpg[/attachment:25q7cq6v]
I will text Lord G and see how things are progressing, I fly off on Monday for a week so hopefully we will get this out for the middle to end of Jan.
And here is Brian's monkey....
SAM_0103.jpg[/attachment:3hygrz0j]
I have just received a parcel in the post from Brian with a gift all the way from the USA, what a nice thought and gesture.
Thank you Brian, it was very much appreciated.
PS, I went and picked up the master copy DVD today from Lord G today so will look it over tomorrow and hopefully have the DVD out to everyone for the end of the month.
I have looked at a third of the DVD, the sound is a little tinny and the DVD is a little squeaky, not sure why as we recorded it as normal.
Geoff has done another nice job of getting rid of the time that we all twist along and Brian is out of shot,
off to look at some more now and then I will post it out Monday to be copied for everyone.
The dvd is in the post to the duplication people, thanks Lord G for all your hard work with editing. A word of warning to all Geoff did tell me there is a buzz on the DVD in the afternoon session, this is the football club groundsman mowing the grass, never mind I'm sure you will be able to twist along and work it out.
