I feel a bit, well very bad now, Barbara has just phoned to see where we are as she is at the venue, they travelled up from Somerset for the day. I only had an email and home number and they drove up yesterday and stayed overnight in a local hotel.

Oh dear, Leo just called and wondered what time the day was starting as he had come over from Belguim.............................
He was over for a meeting on Tuesday though but did stay overnight especially for the day, he rang from the train on the way home.

My husband and I drove up from Portsmouth last night and stayed in hotel, didn't receive any email sadly as we had already left :(  Oh well, hope we can make when the day is rearranged.

Cate our apologies, I did send an email last night and rang you on a landline as I did not have a mobile contact for you.
Just been listening to the news and some people were stranded on the M25 for up to 17 hours last night.

Have spent a nice morning with my Grandson Zakh making a snowman;

I know it wont help now...Consider having you land line or main phone number redirected to your mobile. You will always be contactable.

I would not go that far, but it does get you more bookings when people are just ringing around for an entertainer and can speak with you straight away.

Sorry you guy's had such a bad day, we havn't seen a single flake down here and hopefully it will stay that way. I have bought myself some snow socks for my car just in case the snow forgets it's supposed to stay up north where it belongs.  I'd hate to let people down simply because I got stuck.

I think the important lesson to take from this is to always ask for a mobile number from all those attending just in case there are problems like this. mind you it wouldn't have helped with those who traveled up the day before.

I always ask for a mobile number from customewrs, and my mobile number is on the contract just in case they need rto let me know they have problems or are running late.
Yours Funfully

Good for marketing yourself when you are out of the office as well.

I take you answer your calls whilst driving.

Certainly not, Lyn would then answer and talk to them. I have very strong opinion of anyone who answers the phone and talks while they are driving.
Instant 6 month ban and their car taken away for the 6 months as well, should stop all those doing it in the first week.

Have to make a decision about wheather we try and do the day again next week or wait till Jan, I can manage Thursday but all my mystery lecturers are busy and I expect many will have the start of the Christmas rush. Also the snow may still be with us.

It's not easy to read your posts above Graham - I can feel your pain and awkwardness at having to cancel the day and then frantically trying to contact everyone...

I know that no-one is griping and everyone understands why it was cancelled - but I think we need to remember that you do not run these days for profit or 'as a business' and it definitely isn't your main income stream.  You run these for the purpose of promoting the art, getting old faces and newcomers together, integrating artists of all abilities with learning and discussion, and for the joy of simply playing with balloons for a day -- always on a 'best endeavours' or 'best of intentions' basis.

It must take a huge amount of organising and running around, and I, personally, don't think you have anything to feel bad about by cancelling one - especially given the circumstances.   :D

Just my humble tuppenceworth.  Oh... and thank you for the Care and Share Days so far!   :)

I have hands free but still do not answer calls...Being a bloke it is difficult to multi task.
