Have just booked the mystery lecturer for Birmingham & I'm very please that he has agreed to lecture for us.
See there was a little clue, He.
We could start a guessing forum on who the mystery lecturer is, there's another idea.
Anyway It's going to be another day not to be missed.
Graham Lee
You little tease :D - see you there - I'm looking forward to it
Ian
Do you not want to try & guess who he is?
Graham Lee
Mike Stoke  ( recovering well from op)
Now that was funny, I definately LOL   :D
Graham Lee
Colin myles!!!!! thats my guess.
is there a prize for the winner?
Rollie
Rollie,
Colin would be good & I'd love for him to do a day with us,
but as he promotes qualatex & the care & share days are sponsored by Sempertex I can't see how this would work at the moment.
Any more guesses.
Graham Lee
you might have to give us some more clues but hers one Gordon Drayson
Another great guess that had me rolling around :D  :D
He used to live in Birmingham but has moved to Preston. He is better known for his magic & is very thoughtful about everything he does.
To be honest I dont think anyone would guess in a month of Sunday's, he brought out a book 3/4 years ago called,
"The Random Ramblings of a Self Confessed Balloon-atic.

ROFLMAO! I've just started to work my way round this forum and then I came across the "guess the mystery lecturer" thread!! Isn't T'Internet wonderful? BTW, the photo is not of me but I can see why you thought it might be. I've been one of the featured entertainers at Shrewsbury Flower Show for many years. However, I only do magic shows and compere in the "Kids Arena" (balloons are only a minor bit of my full magic shows). The guy responsible for walkabout (mostly balloons) on another part of the site is Paul Goddard (aka Professor Crump) who does the whole thing on stilts (that would never be me - with my knees!). Good research though.
I actually look like this when I've got my work clothes on! :ugeek:
Here's a little taster of what Malcolm is about for the care & share day in Birmingham.
"I know the trend is towards multi-balloon figures these days. However, as an entertainer, I really think that it is possible to make a wide range of detailed one-balloon figures and still be just as impressive to the public in a "real world" working situation. I still want people to think I'm a balloon artist - even though I'm not constructing large items. I believe that the key to this is "presentation" and my techniques and working strategies have developed specifically to this end over the last 20 odd years! I discussed some of this in my little book (I bet those are the bits that don't get read!). I've never busked with balloons for money or sold them on the street or in stores. I made a choice, early on, to only do paid gigs - as a magician, balloon modeller, tarot reader or whatever! In the lecture, I'll concentrate on the "Be an artist - not a factory" topic. But, of course I'll include some of the figures and variations that I've developed. Part of my approach has arisen from working for so long at Cadbury World and Alton Towers where there were always more people than you could possibly make balloons for! I'm looking forward to it."
Thanks for the info Malcolm.

I know lol but i have to do some work can't just play will have to see about money for fuel and the 15 pound to get in i know i get that back but got to find if first
By a strange quirk of fate ... I will have some copies of my little book at Birmingham! I won't be doing magic with balloons - but I always try to make the way the balloon appears to "grow" into the animal to look "magical (if that makes any sense). And - I always aim to animate the figure in some way as I hand it over. The focus always being on the balloon NOT me (despite the fact that I usually talk all the way through the construction). :ugeek:
