We are trying to book Ken Stillman for this event and if all goes to plan it will be on the Wed 16th Nov. Please note if we do not get a minimum of 15 people booked for the Guild party day on the 17th then just this day will not go ahead. Once I have booked and confirmed Ken I will put up the booking details. The day is free to Balloon Artiste Guild Members, non members fee is a bargain £35.oo to see one of the world's greatest twisters, no pressure Ken!!
I can do the 16th and 17th :) let me know asap so I can book a room
Here's one not to miss. I would highly reccoment you come along to this. Not only a great twister and teacher but a thoroughy nice guy.
Count me in for both days!
I hope to be there for most of the Ken Stilman day, but probably not the 2nd day.
I'll bring my Marigolds ;)
Would love to come.
I would really love to come to this but it's not possible at all.
I'm considering joining the balloon club for the dvd :?
Looking forward to joining in both days. Just looking for a room now. :P
As yet the days are not confirmed so please wait on hotel till I get everything sorted.
I'm in, and if it's half as good as the Davis Grist Memorial Lecture and party day in Birmingham it will be FANTASTIC!
I'll come. Will be the first time I will meet fellow twist-a-holics!
Hopefully I can make this one
Im a definate for this one and if it goes ahead I will join the guild too. Let us know A.S.AP

Hi Graham
Any update on if this is going ahead? (Need to ask Mrs D if it's ok to attend, you see) ;)
--Neil
Things are progressing, been in touch with Ken a few times and all is looking good for the 16/17th, best wait till flights are booked before we confirm everything and people can then start booking hotels for the second two day super event.
The day will be filmed for BAG members who are unable to attend but please try to come along as you do miss so much with just the DVD and the second day is not filmed.
I'm a definite for this now :)
Should be able to make it :D
This day is now confirmed for Wed 16th Nov and is part of a two day SUPER EVENT, booking details for Ken; http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk/catal ... -23-1.html (http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk/catalog/Care_Share_Days-23-1.html)
The day after Ken on the 17th Nov is a bargain at just £15 with four lectures being given by members of the balloon artistes guild, both days are free to club members.
Please book ASAP for Ken as he is on an early bird special and the price will be going up. You can book for the day after Ken via the same link above.
I'll be there :-D do you have the venue details Graham
No nothing yet I need to find a venue, forgot to mention that the lecture day with Ken will be filmed for club members.
I'll be there too. It's great news now I can look into where to stay on the night after Ken, but before the day after Ken. :D :D
Woo Hoo! :D I'm a definite for both days - there will be a spare seat in my car coming up from the Midlands if anyone wants a lift - any suggestions for a suitable hotel?
I may struggle to get to this one as it is my daughters birthday.... I will try my best.
Ohhh I really want to try and make this one.
I'm very excited. Any hotel suggestions? xxx
We are still waiting on venue to be decided aren't we? Or have I missed that bit
I'm seeing Shirley Ray this week at the magic convention and Shirley is giving me the details of some halls as she lives in Leeds and hires them for her decorating events that she runs. So I will look into booking the venue hopefully this week sometime and then we can all rush for the hotel bookings.
I will be attending both days Graham!
Cheers
Emma
Really looking forward to this, both days yay:)
Rachel and I will both be there for the 2 days
I'm hoping to come along.....to both days if I can re arrange work for the second day:-) Might be looking to lift share too, if anyone is going my way.
Amanda
I'm going that way Amanda :) Graham do we have venue yet?
I am looking at two halls, both are North of Leeds and near to Leeds/Bradford airport. I have just booked two rooms for the 15/16th Nov at the Travelodge for £24 a night each. It looks like the halls are fairly close in Arthington and Pool In Wharfedale. Hope to confirm once the other hall gets back to me, the Arlington hall has both days free and we can use the hall Wed night as well which may be handy.
The venue is now all booked;
Arthington Village Hall
Arthington Lane
Arthington
Otley
Leeds LS21 1PQ
We have the hall from 9.30 am on the Wed till 10.oo pm just incase some that are staying over want to do some more jamming in the evening and on the Wed we have the hall from
9.30 till 5.oo p.m. I have booked rooms at the Leeds/Bradford Airport Travelodge for Tuesday and Wednesday night. We are planning on travelling home Thursday night.
Ken will only be lecturing on the Wed form 10 till 6.
all booked Graham see you there:-D
what hotel ???
I booked the travelodge at the Leeds/Bradford Airport.
I checked around & travelodge had the best deal
Please could someone post the link for the Travelodge... don't want to book the wrong one by mistake..

Thanks Dillinger. Tony Twist and I are booked into the Travelodge.
This is going to be a mini Millennium Jam party! Can't wait!
Well I think those that are staying over may need to keep of the sherbert a little as many seemed the worse for wear at the two day memorial lecture ;) :)
Natalie your welcome (keep of the sherbert a little) OK Graham;-o
I'm booked in too - err should I bring some sherbert Dib Dabs?
Quote from: "Graham Lee"Well I think those that are staying over may need to keep of the sherbert a little as many seemed the worse for wear at the two day memorial lecture ;) :)
Mmmmmm can't think who that might have been :D
Tony and I are booked in at the Travelodge and arriving around 5 on Tuesday. Anyone up for dinner in Leeds?
Booking my room in the morning :)
Dinner in Leeds will be good - providing I get up there at a reasonable time on the 15th
Hurrah
I have just booked the travelodge for Tuesday and Wednesday nites.
If anyone is travelling up on the Tuesday afternoon/evening along the M5 let me know...and we can do a lift share. Smiggle are we (that is, myself and Dave H.) going your way?
Amanda :-)
I'll travel up straight from the day job in Leamington leaving about 5pm so probably not Amanda but thanks for the thought - I will have space in my car though if anyone wants a lift?
ok, thanks... It was worth the thought, though.
I can sleep a little easier now as Ken has just sent over all his flight details and Vegas to London is all booked.
Mind you we still have to sort out London to Amsterdam so that he can get over for the United Twisters lecture on the Monday 14th Nov.
I have just spoken with Ken at Gatwick, he thought he was going to miss his connecting flight to Amsterdam as his flight from the US was late, ten minutes later he rings back to say that they had sorted things out for him and he was back on the original flight, good old BA.
Is anyone driving up from London? Our car is not big enough to carry the full stock and Ken so looking to see if we can get some stock taken up for us?
I'm not coming from London, but could help if you can make it as far as Peterborough. I could come across and meet you there then take the A1 straight up if that helps, My van will be empty so lots of room for stock. Sorry can't be of more help than that.
From Ken's notes of what is required stock wise at the day this is what will be taught if time for everything,
Horse, Santa Hat, Mrs Claus, Rhino, Toy Soldier, Penguin, Fish, Deer, Camel, Dino, Kangaroo, Giraffe, Spiderman, Human Face and Ninja Turtle.
Thanks for the offer Dan, we are just bringing less stock. I should have thought and perhaps posted some stock to you or Thelma to bring up.
I just noticed on the travelodge website that it says do not use the postcode for the Leeds/Bradford hotel LS19 7UE but use this one instead, LS19 7UB
Well I was just going to nip off to the airport to pick Ken up but everytime I look at the arrival time it gets later, started off at 9.35 then went to 10.06 and now it's coming in at 10.13. I'm guessing it will take 30 mins to get through customs so will aim for getting there at 10.45. Then it's back home, load the car and off on our drive up north.
Ken is here all safe and sound, the car is loaded and we are just having a sandwich before setting off, hope to be at the hotel about 6.3o/7 pm
We have just been out for a very nice meal in a pub called the half way inn, I think there must have been 12 of us altogether.
Just checking emails and then it's the big day tomorrow, I have brought two video cameras with me just in case we get a problem with one of them.
is there space for me?
Yes we can fit a few more in, at a guess we have about 25 coming at the moment, I think.
Just got back from the pub after an excellent day with Ken, probably not for me to say if he was good or not but Ken did get a standing ovation and it was a great day.
Not sure when I will get time to add the pictures from the day as we are off home tomorrow night and then I'm taking Ken sightseeing around London on Friday and have a busy weekend of shows as well so it may not be till next week that I get time to re-size and post them.
I liked the horse design, beads, and the face distortion from memory but may have forgotten some of the others as it was a full on day with Ken doing about five hours of material.
Sounds like all you guys are having a wonderful time. Wish I was there rather than stuck in my day job today! Look forward to seeing the photos :-)
Thank you Graham and ken for an amazing couple off days will be using at least 5 of the things I learnt for children in need event I'm doing tonight :)
thank you Graham lyn and Ken for a fantastic couple of days here are pics

thanks Ken Graham & Lyn for a cracking couple of days learnt loads:-D
it was great meeting every one & putting faces to names
Dennis
I took Ken around London today, we went up to the London Eye and Big Ben then onto Covent Garden where we saw a couple of buskers and a singer who also did some magic and there was a purple Qualatex pump and some modelling balloons on the floor but we missed what was happening with these. We also got the glimpse of a twister walking over Westminster Bridge with a red, white and blue top hat and Big Ben but he was to quick for us to stop and talk.
The first of the pictures,
Would anyone be interested in coming over Sunday afternoon to have a jam with Ken for a few hours while I'm out doing a show?
It was a great few days away,
Another great couple of days.
Lots of great pictures.
A few more
Last ones for now.
Graham can you post the giraffe one on facebook so I can tag myself in it? :D
I have just re-sized all the pictures from the first day so will post them tomorrow, off early in the morning to take Ken to the airport and then I'm around to Lord G with the memory card from the lecture/workshop to get this put onto DVD ASAP and hopefully out before Christmas. We went over to Boxhill this morning only to find Boxhil covered in fog and mist, everywhere else was fine. Then Ken had a nice time with Natalie, Tony and Carol who came around to jam in the afternoon and then we went off for a nice meal in Sutton, a lovely day all around as my show this afternoon went very well.
Sorry about the delay in getting the pictures up but with taking Ken out and about and a busy weekend of shows it's been all go. Just got back from the airport after dropping Ken off and then taking the memory card of the day around to Lord G, hoping to get this DVD out to members before the Christmas rush.
It would be nice if one or two more who attended the days could post a few pictures, everyone is clicking away and if we all posted 2/3 pictures each that would give us an extra 60/90 pictures from the event as I'm sure I miss a few things that are going on.
From Ken's speed twisting concept;
More from the speed twisting technique,
Ken having a good time,
Lyn and Thelma helping to keep the hall tidy,
A nice penguin with the speed twisting technique,
Then it was onto Mrs Christmas,
The Toy Soldier,
There were so many good ideas from the day,
Onto the Turtle, we had such a laugh with this one, for some reason Thelma's balloons seemed to weld themselves together, not sure why.
Some more from the speed section,
A nice picture of Dennis,
Some variations and Ken's world famous Superhero.
Tony made an excellent Fox head from Ken's head design technique. That is all the ones re-sized at the moment, hope to do a few more later on today.
Daniel brought along some glow in the dark faces, second picture.
if anyone was thinking the care n share days are just for beginners
at Leeds Graham showed a real workers mickey (restaurant not line)these are my attempts the Wednesday was worth it just for this:-D
Thanks Dennis, chuffed you think it's a winner.
I will post my version of the Mickey Tony made at the day on Thursday, just two balloons for the head instead of the five in the one above so maybe more usable.
Love Mrs Christmas and toy soldier designs
Pam
xx
A few more pictures from the first day with Ken, Dan and his take on Ken's speed twisting. Not sure if Dan got the idea of this speed twisting
The view from our travelodge hotel window,
The hall on the second day before everyone turned up,
Gradually working my way through all the pictures, there was a surprise on Thursday morning when Joyce asked if she could say a few words. Joyce presented Ken with a friendship picture and a book on Yorkshire with a nice necklace for Ken's wife that Joyce had hand made, I can tell you Ken was touched. Lyn also received a nice basket of flowers for all her hard work at the back of the room, so thanks Joyce it was appreciated. Did anyone get a picture of Lyn getting the flowers?
A rare picture of Natalie, I think she was what they call tweeting at the time.
Dennis brought along his pump, could someone remind me of the name of it?
It was interesting to see and was not too heavy when placed in the small of your back with the belt adjusted accordingly.
Russell showed the set up for his box which got a lot of interest and the way the hidden switch worked, he also did some magic/balloon related items as well.
The back of the box,
hi Graham it's a peewee not cheep but well worth it
http://www.balloonopolis.com/PeeWeePumpinfo.html (http://www.balloonopolis.com/PeeWeePumpinfo.html)
Looks like a fantastic couple of days, even more gutted I couldn't get there
Great days. Thank you!!! xxx
LED.jpg[/attachment:2gjexc13]Yes I also enjoyed my day at the event & the evening meal we had together.
Here is my most recent Mickey + Natalie wearing a hat with a LED balloon.
Amanda before the big reveal,
Amanda did a session on box weaving,
Steve and his 646 dog, Thelma and her hippo/cow and Rhian's ballerina.
Dennis's Dino I think, a better view of Steves dog and my attempted version with 350/260's.
Dave with his session on printed balloons and advertising,
Everyone had a go at making something with a round advertising balloon incorporated into the design.
A few of the pictures are blurry as there were so many to get through, anyone got some better ones from this session?
Carrying on with the logo session,
Russell in his normal Wed night get up for that special club he goes too!!
Last few for the moment, off to watch the master copy of my new hat DVD, another little plug. The Mickey Mouse hat shown at the day is one of the models on the DVD.
Still a few more from the logo session,
I expect Dave got a few new ideas from this session?
A few more still to post, just off out with friends for a meal so will post in the morning.
Thelma starting the last lecture of the day,
Thelma always has some very interesting ideas,
Last one from the day and then we have Ken sight seeing up in London,
We saw a couple of excellent buskers at Covent Garden,
This busker did some balloon modelling but we turned up after so have no idea what he did but you can see the Qualatex purple pump and some balloon on the floor.
We also saw a funny guy standing around Rogers stall.
We would very much like to thank Ken for coming over, he was an absolute pleasure and a joy to be with, great company and so laid back and easy going.
We do hope you all did get something from attending the second two day event that we have run.
Thanks also to everyone who brought along some nibbles for both days, this really does help make the party atmosphere that there seems to be at the days.
Also thanks to everyone who helped to keep the hall clean and tidy and to Amanda & Russell for getting the troops sorted on the second day and getting the
hall cleared up and all stock out in a record 15 mins.
To all those who gave of their time freely on the second day to do lectures and talks, Russell, Dennis, Amanda, Dave and Thelma, all were very interesting.
It was nice of Joyce to present Ken and Lyn with a little gift and keep sake for their hard work and efforts and thanks to Olivia who arranged the card for Lyn and I.
Olivia, Thank You :)
I think thats about it, we did get three new club members as well, Steve Benton, Adrian Hurley and Anthony Sean Davies.
This is the card,
I thought I'd give Ken a plug for all his sites as at the days he did not do much of a hard sell on them, his own website is, www.balloonmaster.com (http://www.balloonmaster.com)
The new instructional site is www.balloonclick.com (http://www.balloonclick.com) which I believe has silver membership which is free or the all singinf and all dancing package is gold which costs $10 a month.
Ken did the Star Interview a while ago so if you fancy a read this is the link to it; ken-stillman-interview-25th-may-t83.html (http://balloonchat.co.uk/ken-stillman-interview-25th-may-t83.html)
Wow... The pics look great. Only now have i had a chance to have a look at them, they are fab. Many thanks to all who made this such a special few days.
Amanda
here is the quick Micky using just 2 5inch rounds and a blush 260 and 260 black for head band
Here is a photo of Lyn at the day. I just liked it.
May I also add a big thank you to all who very generously donated money to children in need, I raised £90 altogether and paid it in on the Friday afternoon, straight after work.
Stillman heart Santa.jpg[/attachment:3qn9bhlp]Kens twisted heart lobe technique is useful for Santa body as well as a hat.
Thanks Ken.
I have just had an email from Joyce who took all the unwanted balloons from the Leeds day and raised some money;
Thank you so much !
Just wanted you to know with all the extra balloons taken to the Kirkwood hospice trust shop in town -------wait for it !
*The sales were app' £40 in total and very thrilled too.
Better than bursting them as u will agree.
thats nice ..
Well Done Joyce
xx
