they work fine especially if it need that extra weight to hold it in place..

and if you are using poles and bases they can go over the top to add extra weight if needed too..

Thanks Pam.

It seems that I have to make some wedding decors like columns and arches.
I'm searching for a cheap and simple base and now I think I found it for $3.
It is cheap and I can reproduce very easily and fast.

For a base - without weights - I need a 33*33 cm furniture, a pvc pipe extension for 16mm pvc pipes, a washer and a furniture tightening screw (or what's the name of these...).
The extension has a small edge inside, so the screw can hold it. Finally I put a 16mm pvc pipe into the extension.

Weight plates could be fine for this solution.

Here I attach some pictures.

Here, in Ikea they have am uplighter called a NOT which has good weights for most indoor columns and costs only around £5.. If you have IKEA check it out..

If you arch is helium filled, we use ordinary house bricks as weights...

we make them very pretty of course by wrapping them in pretty paper or in a bottle bag or pretty box.. but the weight is a brick adn very cheap to buy

Thanks Pam for the ideas. The NOT lamp of Ikea is not too cheap for a simple base for 5,5 GBP here in Hungary, I think. Bricks? Hmm...interesting idea...
What about putting water-filled smaller balloons into the baloons of the first cluster? Could it work?

Here I attach some pictures of my very first columns.
The second one is made using a balloon bead as the stem, and a self-adhesive tape. I don't use helium.

They look great Leslie.  The black and white one looks a little off because of the top black balloon, (just my opinion) but that's probably all you had to work with...I totally understand.  I've had to do that myself at times.

I think my favorite is the center one -pic. 09519-.  That one to me is very elegant.
Again, very nice work Leslie...thanks for sharing them.

Thank you Tonya your kind words! I'm, glad you find my first columns nice!

I saw very much black and white, decors and cakes last week on the biggest wedding show in Hungary (it may be fashionable now?), so I thought I give them a try... And I think, the Damask pattern of Qualatex is very very beautiful.

I do like your columns, They are very cool.  I think the use of a colume for the flowers in the balloon is lovely too..
