Hello all,

When I have a coworker transferring to a new assignment (military) I typically make a balloon sculpture to give to them at their going away luncheon.

I have a coworker who will be transferring to Hawaii and has asked for a Hawaiin themed balloon.  I thought about making her a balloon lei (flower necklace).

I make several of the standard type flowers/roses/etc, but have never made a Hawaiin type of the flower with balloons.

Any advice on a balloon lei?

  Thanks,

  Michael

Hi Michael

There was a lovely Hawaian Hula monkey posted here. I believe the idea came from Don Caldwell. Here is the link to it post13893.html?hilit=hula#pl13893

Another idea is to make ordinary flowers, and string them together with un-inflated balloons or thin cord. Hope this helps  :D
Kind regards
Kevin

Uninflated geos might make a nice (although rather expensive!) lei

Phoenix,

Thanks for the great ideas.  I've made the Don Caldwell monkey before but not the hula version.  I think she'll get that and a balloon lei.   Will post pictures when I'm done.

It's finally time for my co-worker's going away.  I decided to do a hula monkey for her.  I put a coconut drink in the monkey's hand using a blush heart tulip twisted with a little artwork

I know it's late but this is one I've made - it's made from 160s - each flower uses 1/2 a balloon
