Heres a picture of a fairy I made for my little cousins 3rd birthday tomorrow...

I would also appreciate any suggestions for Star Wars themed party for a 5 year old coming up in a couple of weeks.

Cute fairy!  Well done!  :D

As for star wars  - I have seen some great Darth Vader / Yoda designs.  Or a ride-in xwing?
Just a few thoughts

Love the fairy!

Light sabers are good, a red or green 160 inside a clear 260 with a black or grey handle.

What great ideas.  I will start practicing them all. Love the R2D2 but not sure whether I can do that one.  I can do the weave bit but the legs I don't quite get.  Will try it thou.
Thanks everyone!

I did  Star Wars party about 5 years ago and created a Darth Vader balloon based on the Ken Stillman figures. Will try to upload a photo. Also had an attempt at Yoda lol  I wasn't happy with Yoda but the kids knew who it was. Will try to find that too.

I have refined the Yoda by putting him in a brown cape (bit of scrap material from the local fabric shop and a little stitching to make a basic cape) And with Darth Vader, neatly trim a black bin bag to size and use glue dots to keep in place on the cape balloons.

Darth Vaders head is a black 11" round half inflated to keep the round shape. The helmet is made using 3 black 160s, bent to shape and glue dots to hold in place on the 11" round. white marker pen for the details.

The Lightsaber was shown to me by Mike Stokes, ended up making quite a few for the kids at the party.
Anyway, hope that is of some use (probably in how NOT to make a Yoda lol)
