My today's decor work was this five Olympic rings for an Olympic post-event.
1000 pcs 4" balloons, 4,5 m * 2 m in size, ~3kg in weight.
4 hours inflating, 3,5 hours frame building, balloon placement and shining.

What did you use for frames?

We just used large hula hoops - gave us perfect rings - ideal for what we wanted

I did use simple PVC pipes (diameter 16 mm, used by electricians).
If the full length of the pipe is long enough, you do not have to heat it while bending.
4 m (two such pipes) is long enough and gives a ring with a diameter of 1,3 m.
At the connection points I've drilled a small hole (1 mm) and fixed the pipes together using a thin wire (like we use for fantasy flowers).

I love this type of pipe, because it has no weight, easy to cut, to stick, to bend, to shape. And first of all it is very very cheap (below $1 / 2 m), the best choice for disposable frames.
I use this pipe for columns too, and for arches when I can fix the top using a fishing line, because this pipe is not so hard like an aluminium rod.
