Hey Danny no flies on you. You win an exclusive balloon poodle from my new invisible collection, only very clever people can see them. That is the basics behind the name but when I was looking for a new company name I wanted something that would make people think and maybe take a second look, something that would stand out and it seems to be working. I get asked a lot what it means and get to strike up a conversation with people. Now I have my van sign written it gets noticed a lot and I get comments like I am always seeing your van about.
I also intend to play on the I thing when advertising.
With things like
I twist
I decorate
I entertainer
I promote

I have had comments from people about the name not saying what I do but this is always from people inside the industry, outside it always seems to be positive.
After all there are many companies out there that have names that do not obviously reflect their business Aon, ING, eon, bupa & Mitel (MIke and TErry's Lawnmowers... and they sell large telephone systems.)
When it comes to the day I arive at the pearly gates I hope to slide in sideways saying to st Peter WOW!!! what a ride.

Roger, a few more of the boring standard questions for you

They're not boring its just where I have been reading the other interviews I have had time to think about what my answer would have been to the questions.

19, what road in latex do you see yourself taking in the future.

I have always fancied having a party shop I have so many ideas that would make it a little different to what I have seen. I would like to get to the stage were I could teach others as even now when I teach someone to make even the simplest thing I get a real thrill.

20, what is your personal goal when you set off to work? Is it money or to entertain etc?

Entertaining too much really whether decorating or twisting I want to make people happy. I should concentrate on the money more.

21, what are your balloon goals for the future?

This fits with question above to own a quality party shop (not a card shop that does other bits) and to get good enough that people would want me to teach them.

22, if you could start all over again, would you change anything?

I am very much of the opinion that you should not worry about the past but look to the future I do not have Heroes ability to jump in time so I can't change it.

You should learn from the past not dwell on it.

23, how would you like the future of balloon modelling to develop?

I would like it (and I feel this is happening) to be seen as a source of entertainment beyond that for children I do get booked for adult events working tables etc but more respect for our art from adults would be good. And we can do this by moving our skills on.

24, who's the most famous person you have made a balloon creation for?

Vince Clark (singer songwriter Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure) I have made a model for him and decorated a party he organised for someone's birthday. (For someone in the public eye he is very quiet).

25, how do you keep the enthusiasm going & what still excites you about our great world of latex.

I just love making people happy and I find that I can do that with balloons and the better I get the happier I can make people.

26, what inspires or is your thought process in coming up with a new design

Designing my own sculptures is quite a new thing to me there are so many good designs out there already I haven't needed to, but since being full time I have had some requests that I have had to make up myself. I tend to do this by taking bits of other sculptures and saying that looks like a similar ear or face etc. I am finding the more I try to create my own the designs the better I am getting at it.

27, who would you like to work with dead or alive?

Well in the world of decorating there are two 1st Chris Horne I did my first ever decorating course with him and I love his work and attitude the new foil decorator balloons he has come up with are just brilliant. The 2nd is Colin Myles who is on this site from time to time. I love the way he integrates twisting with decorating. Something I try to do myself. I met Colin at bjc2008 and he seems like a really nice bloke.

With twisting it is our very own Billy Wiz I would love to go with him on one of his trips I think what he does is brilliant. Basildon Round Table had some of the children from Chernobyl over to stay in their homes, and to see children who suffer so much made so happy was an absolute pleasure.

28, what makes you laugh?

Well Monty Python was just the best ever. They set the scene for so many of those who have followed.

And Dads army still makes me chuckle even though I have seen them a dozen times.

I would like to make a good representation of a famous building may be the Taj Mahal or the houses of parliament.

Where would you like to perform or decorate?

I have spent quite a while trying to thing of somewhere I would like to work that I haven't as yet and could not think of anywhere, and then It came to me the 2012 Olympics I would love to be part of it.

And thanks Prof for your questions.

Hi Roger

I have a couple of questions. its something I find intriguing at the moment, not just for you but for all.

What do you wear whilst out on a balloon twisting job?

When we started nearly 20 years ago, everyone thought we where Clowns and we went downthe route of having Clown Styke costumes but covered in Balloons and no face paint to differentiate and still wear them for childrens shows, and for adults evening events he goes for the evening suit with black balloon print waiscoat and Mine is much the same but ladies black evening trousers and top with again black balloon print waiscoat.  lately I have noticed twisters wearing anything from jeans and t shirt to full clown suit, so I have started noticing more.

the other question?

Trolley, Bag or apron or something else for your balloons when working and how do you find it?

I personally like the 6 pocket busking bag I bought from Graham (not that I use balloon rolls, I use bags, but carry so many different balloons these days I can put them in all the pockets as its not only 6 inside but also pockets on the outside which holds the balloons I need only a few of plus pens and cards etc), Paul has a bag we had made with folded up big packets so also holds lots of bags of balloons.

Well Proff I was absolutely obsessed with Archery went to 2 worlds and 3 European champs but my best individual result was 13 in the worlds in the USA and 1st in the European team event in Germany in 1995. Unfortunately I never really got to be good enough to be competing for international medals. I am desperate to go and watch the archery in 2012 and I will sit there thinking of what might have been. Its funny but I am sitting here and the trophy from the Euros is sitting on my desk and it almost brings a tear to my eye, I did love to compete.

Hi Pam we meet again it was a long time ago we first met.
And I have the pictures to prove it.

What clothes depends on the event I have dressed in so many different outfits.
I have a tux and a waist coat with balloons printed on it. I have a pirate outfit, a black and orange striped suit I have just acquired a new outfit that is a red Latin dance shirt  which I were with black trousers and red shoes.

As for what do I keep my balloons in. I have a triple busking bag and the Easy Load Jumbo apron, both made by twist-em-up. Again depends on the situation but If I can I tend to use the bag.

Hi Danny

Well you would have to have the balloon basket ball hat game the one that Graham has shown at some of his lectures.

Then there is the 100 meter's wearing the silliest balloon hat. I can just see Asafa Powel on the starting blocks wearing this giant creation.  Now that would be cool. And of course there would have to be balloon fencing.

Or was you thinking more of the sort of competitions I have heard of in the states were you had to make 3 teddy bears exactly the same size. Or how many balloon dogs you can make in a minute.   I think I would like to see how many different sculptures could be made in say 5 minutes that would be interesting.
