It's for a non profit making organisation, you will be working for yourself, I would prefer to recommend someone with Insurance & CRB, clean fingernails etc if poss  :lol:

WHY can't these people pay the going rate, or at least a decent rate?   :evil:

Because there's always someone who will go out for less, making it more difficult for the 'professionals' to get what should be a going rate.

I'm sorry to be so negative Zoe but you can't expect anyone who is any good to go out for that even for one hour let alone four hours.  If you can't take someone good with you it is better to take no one because someone who would work for £40 may not be able to do the work.  I would advice caution here.  Your reputation can be damaged by taking an the wrong person along.  Please don't get offended with me here.  I am just worried about what you are doing.  You won't be doing yourself or your client any favours.

4 hours on a Sunday means it's the only job I could do that day, so they'd have to pay me the equivelent of 2 x Birthday parties before I started to add on travel costs if it was a long way away.

For £40 I wouldn't even bother getting out of bed.

As Billy said it's people who go out for such a rediculously low fee that mess it up for market the Proffessionals.

We had a branch of HMV looking for a twister a few years ago and they couldn't understand why none of the local guys would take the job for the money offered. £50 for 10-4. Their argument was £50 is a good days wage. I don't know whether they found anyone in the end, if they did it was probably a student who needs a few quid and could make a Dog, Sword and 4 petal flower.

They don't see we have to pay for balloons, insurance, crb, tax, travel, training & so on

I will not offer any jobs that my son cannot help with again on this site, it was not my intention to offend.

Just thought having read threads on busking it may be better for a learner, than that.
Everyone has got to start somewhere!
