I am wondering weather it is possible to get a restaurant gig if I am only 12.

Over the last few weeks I have been practicing some more complex designs, nothing massive, but better than line work stuff. I also have mad hatz 1 in the mail to me.
I normally do magic and balloons at birthday parties, but I would love to have a consistent weekly/fortnightly gig where I can hand out business cards and practice some better stuff.

Few questions:

Should I wait until I am a better/older/faster balloon twister, or is what I currently know good enough?

Does Anybody have any techniques for getting a restaurant gig, I am not worried about tips or being paid much at the moment, just the consistent job

When and how do you approach a restaurant?

Any other advice?

Thanks,
Jake

Is there someone you know locally that does this? Maybe you could piggy back with them to help out for the experience.

There is a person who used to do it in a restauranr half an hour from where i live... Maybe i should go to there restaurant on there night and observe.

Is this rude and not good balloon twisting etiquette? Of course i wouldnt try to take there job or even take out any balloons. I would be a regualr diner just observing.

Why not call them and see if you can go along to help, be the apprentice.

Its tough when you are young, I once had a student magician who was 14 and he really struggled to get work or be taken seriously. I think Graham is right though, you should find out who the other Balloon modeller is and give them a call, tell them your situation and hopefully you can work something out.

Personally I don't see a problem with you doing restaurant work, its great you have these skills, I wish I had such skills when I was 12.

...or take your balloons to Mc donald and try it ( may be better outdoor   ). Oscar.

Hi

I don't know if you have any Hungry Horse restaurants near you but they all seem to give out balloons when they have time (which isn't often at the weekends).  They are usually overinflated swords or dogs with no eyes!  Nothing that would take longer than 30 seconds evn as a pure amateur.

Being that you are young, you would attract the interest of children and be a good marketing point for them.  Give them a try.  You might be pleasantly surprised.

Good luck

think even to do part time work here in the UK you have to be 13, so the first place I would ask is your school.. dont want you or any employer getting in trouble

Think then you are only allowed to work certain hours and certain times of the day
