April Model of the Month (Snake)
« on: March 31, 2021, 10:36:05 AM »
We went with the Snake as the model of the month for April.
The complimentary packs of balloons will be sent out with all orders this month.

I originally made the Snake back in March 2020 and from 350's so we have
scaled it down for the model of the month and made from 260's.

Here we go then with the model of the month step by step details.
Inflate the first 260 balloon leaving approx 9 fingers un-inflated.

Make two 1.5/2 finger pinch twists.

Then make two more pinch twists the same size as your first two.
At this point I like to wrap the 260 over the top of the pinch twists to the front pinch twists where the nozzle is.

And then wrap the balloon underneath the pinch twists back to the other side of the four pinch twists.
This holds them securely and all in place for me.

Now make two more pinch twists the same size as your others.
This time take the balloon over the top of the last two sets of pinch twists and then underneath
and back to where the 260 balloon started off, behind all six pinch twists.

You then meed a 4 finger bubble and then two more 1.5 finger pinch twists.
Then make a 4 finger bubble and twist this back into the six pinch twists.

The top of the Snakes's head is a 5 finger bubble twisted into the two 1.5 finger pinch twists.
Discard the rest of this 260 balloon.

Turn the front two pinch twists horizontally.

You now need to wrap the next 260 around your fingers, start with the nipple of the balloon nearest your palm
so the nozzle is at the top of your fingers. Then inflate fully to form the spiral, you have to move your
hand away from the pump as the balloon gets inflated.

I use a floor standing pump so this works fairly easily for me.
Each spiral does come out differently, there is a knack to this but please try a few times.

I will post a picture tomorrow to show you how the balloon looks wrapped around my fingers.
Also there is another way to make the spiral with attaching the balloon around a hand pump and then inflating.
I will post that picture as well tomorrow to give you an alternative way to make the spiral.

Attach the 260 to the two pinch twists.

Puff inflate the 260 Red and make a 6 finger section with a knot at both ends.
Attach this around the front two pinch twists.

Inflate the other section of the Red balloon and make two 1.5 finger bubbles for the eyes.
Twist the balloon a few times so you have some slack between the bubbles and
tie with a loose knot so you have slack at both ends of the balloon.

Put the eyes in position, you can adjust them by pushing them slightly into the head for the look you like best.
You can also adjust the spiral of the Snake as well a little till you are happy with the look.

I then puff inflate the Black 260.
You will have to see the length that works for you but between a 6/8 finger bubble and tie this up.
Push this through the head so the knot does not show and sit it over
the top of the eyes for a more sinister looking Snake.

Add a little artwork for the eyes and there you have your snake.

Hope it works out for you and I will post a couple of extra pictures tomorrow for help with making the spiral.

I then added some scales to the Snake and a different spiral so you can see there are a few variations when making the snake.

The Snake started off as a 350 Rattle Snake design, I originally made this over a year ago in March 2020.
