Well personally, I would like to know how you get into the darn big balloon lol.  However, the heart is a better choice for the model of the month.

They are all the same basic design with a few slight variations.

A few more, looks like I taught this at a Banstead care & share day a while back, I thought the first time I showed this was at Pam & Paul's day earlier in the year.
See what old age does for you!! he he.

The heart with flowers is the complete Valentines Day gift in one air-adorably light package.

I think I am having a brain block on this heart!  No matter which way I start I simply cannot get a heart.  I have started with a 6 petal flower, then I tried starting with a 3 petal flower with pinch twists at the ends.  I am not giving up Graham, just letting you know that the reason I don't have a picture posted yet.

I will post a little teaser to help with how to start off the heart, just off to do some more shows before Christmas.

Here are some pictures to help, please have a good look at the five petal flowers and then hopefully this will be a good starting point.

I realized after I had made the three hearts that one petal on each should have been longer.  But all in all, I think it's a pretty darn good heart!!!!  Thank you Graham, for this and all of the "Model of the Month's" that you have done.  It's not a matter of just doing them, it's the learning new twists and thinking out the steps.  With those tools, it is so much easier to try new things and perhaps even one day, come up with a brand new design!!!!!  Many, many thanks!!!! :)

Thanks for the hint, Graham.  I didn't have a clue where to start when I first saw it!

Millie I am pleased you struggled a little with the design and I said I would put some hints up, as after I posted the hint pictures today I had 5 mins before I had to go off to do my last Christmas show of the season so carried on and made the heart. Well the top centre section I changed a little and have a slight variation on a theme which at the moment I am liking a lot,
so thanks  :D  If you had not mentioned this I may not have got the new variation.

I really like that "variation", it adds a little class to the creation.  Very nice!  (Of course, now I have to go try that too!! LOLOL)

Thanks to Cindy, funat60 and cindyt for having a go at the heart, I will try to put the instructions up over the weekend.

The instructions for the heart, I have made in different colours so hopefully a little easier to follow along with.

Inflate a 260, leave 6/7 fingers un-inflated. It may be easier for the first few times you make this to pre-stretch the balloons so they are a little longer.
Leave a reasonable amount of balloon at the knot end to tie into the first pinch twist that you make.
You will need a 3 finger bubble and then a 1 finger pinch twist and another 3 finger bubble.
Tie the knot around the second 3 finger bubble and push through both 3 finger bubbles to secure, wrap the excess from the knot around the first pinch twist.

This is then like a flower petal and you need to make three more exactly the same and the same size.
You should have four petals with 3 finger bubbles and a 1 finger pinch twist.

The last petal you are making will be a 4 finger bubble, 1 finger oinch twist and then another 4 finger bubble.
Make two more five petal flowers exactly the same, you will probably find that one of the flowers looks a little different and two similar, if so use the odd one at the bottom of the heart and the two similar at the top, it will help to hide things up by doing this way. That is if they are different, you may have made three exactly the same. With the petals laid out on the floor you need to twist them together as per the pictures. From the longer petal miss one out and twist the next petals together from either flower.

Do the same with the other side, from the longer petal miss one out and then twist the next ones from either flower together.
The last two balloons to make the Heart should be 7 fingers un-inflated and pre-strecth the balloon before inflating and possibly stretch again when inflated
to make a little longer and a little softer. Tie these together and cut off the knot ends, twist into the bottom longer petal of the flower.

Then twist a 3 finger bubble up to the next pinch twist on the same flower, do this on both sides of the Heart.
You now need a 4 finger bubble going across to the petal from the top flower on the Heart.

Post by: Graham Lee on January 12, 2013, 02:21:58 PM
You then need a 3 finger bubble that connects to where you joined the two flowers together with the two pinch twists.
Twist another 3 finger bubble back to the pinch twist on the first flower, hopefully you can follow the picture here OK.
Then twist another 4 finger bubble from the lower flower petal to the top flower petal, ther eare two 4 finger bubbles here which help to hold the single 3 finger bubbles in place.
It makes for a very sturdy and solid structure and maybe would make a good frisbee.

Carry on and do the same with the other side of the heart, you are just mirroring each side. I have done the other side differently in that I made two 4 finger bubbles and then the two
3 finger twists just to show there is a plan A and Plan B but they do come out the same. Once this is done you then need a 3 finger bubble up to the next petal on the top flower.

With the same side twist a 4 finger bubble up to the longest petal on the top flower and repeat on the other side of the heart. You then need another 4 finger bubble down from the long petal onto the next pinch twist of the next petal and do the same on the other side of the Heart as well. Hopefully we are all up to speed and looking a little like this in picture 24.

From this point there are a few variations on a theme and if you look at all the Hearts I have posted on Balloon Chat there probably are 4/5 different ways to finish the heart.
I will explain the last way I made it after Millie was having a problem, twist a 2 finger bubble and then a 1 finger pinch twist in both balloons and twist the pinch twists together.
You then need to twist another 2 finger bubble and twist this around where you connected both floweres together with the two pinch twists.

Then with the Goldenrod balloon twist another 2 finger bubble back to the two pinch twists at the top of the heart which are Pink and Goldenrod in the instructions.
Do the same with the other side of the Heart and the Pink balloon. Adjust all the bubbles and if you have made this then please post a picture, please!

This is the Heart when made out of all the same colours, the top of the heart I have put a double row in the top
section and a triple row in from the centre pinch twist to where the flowers join together at the two pinch twists.

The bottom picture may show the difference between the look of one and two bubbles at the top of the Heart.
The look of the Heart is changed depending on what way you put the bubbles from the centre pinch twists, the top pictures shows the different look.

It would be great to see a few trying this and posting their efforts, this is the last Model of the Month for a while or maybe for ever? Who knows,
I thought I'd stopped before and then got a second wind so maybe in a few months I will get a third wind if that is possible.

It definitely went a lot smoother this time around!  I love the heart -- it will be great for Valentine's Day!  Thanks, Graham, for posting this!  I hope you change your mind about having this the last Model of the Month -- I was just finally getting up the nerve to try some of them!

For the moment this is the last one, there are quite a few older model of the month's for you to try. Have fun with them  :)
Yours and AirbenderMH Heart's are very good.

I've been wanting to try this for a while and as the snow appears to be set in for the weekend I'd thought I'd get my balloons out and give it a try....

Unfortunately my first attempt hasn't gone too well, this is as far as I got before parts started popping!

On the plus side I've got some nice bases for wands from overinflating the ballons for the flower parts!  :D

Will have another try over the weekend, watch this space......!!

Thank you graham,
Just had a go at the heart. The last part was tricky and ended up only doing one bubble to link rather than coming back again. Really pleased with the end result and the instructions were great to follow. :D

had a go at the heart the pink was the first attempt (used 160's) thought I would try putting a under inflated heart in the gap didn't quite work the way I wanted it to but I think the idea has possibility's in the 2nd one (260's) I put the red centre in as a separate shape
