Post by: Graham Lee on June 30, 2012, 08:52:29 PM
I remade this tonight as it has changed a little from the original I used to make. There is another version here with more detail as well, pink-panther-t4921.html?hilit=pink (http://balloonchat.co.uk/pink-panther-t4921.html?hilit=pink) panther

Hi there

Hope this finds you all keeping well :)

I've been looking around to try and find the rules/etiquette for model of the month.  Do we have to do an exact replica of Graham's gorgeous Pink Panther or can we just post our own version of one - I am new to twisting so I am very much dependent on following a set up instructions rather than trying to make it up as I go along :)

Thanks in advance for your help

KR

Either or really, it's nice to see some have a go and it's nice to see some variations on a theme. There are no rules, we all make it up as we go along.

Thanks Graham for the info :)

I have had a go at a pink panther    As I am very new to twisting I didn't even try to replicate yours.  Mine is soooo much simpler and not so technically challenging but still quite challenging for me!  But I will have a go when you post the instructions later in the month.  Here is my pink panther for now  :P

Thanks for looking :)

I will be putting the instructions up tomorrow, taken all the pictures and re,made it today. I ran out of time today to write out the instructions.
Looking to put maybe an easier one up next month as not many had a go this time around.

Here we go then, Pink Panther instructions, inflate a White balloon about half way, make apprx a 6 finger fold twist and two 2 finger fold twists. Attach a Pink 260 to the centre of the White fold twists which has 4 fingers un-inflated, twist a 6/7 finger bubble and a 4/5 finger fold twist.

Make another 4/5 finger fold twist for the cheeks and then twist another 6/7 finger bubble to match the first one you made and twist this into the centre of the white balloon again.
I then make the next 6/7 finger bubble a finger longer so that the top of the nose/muzzle loops up slightly as in the picture.

Inflate the next Pink 260 leaving a good 6 fingers un-inflated and attach to the two fold twists from the first Pink balloon, make a 3 finger bubble followed by a large 1 finger pinch twist,
then two 2 finger bubbles for the ears that twist back to the pinch twist.
Then make two 2 finger bubbles and another large 1 finger pinch twist.
The centre of the head bubble will come over the top in between the two 2 finger bubbles that you have just made, but not now in a while.

Make two more 2 finger bubbles for the other ear and twist around the second pinch twist.
You now need another 3 finger bubble to match the other side of the head bubble and twist this into the fold twists that are his cheeks.
The remainder of the balloon is now in the centre of the face and you can make a 2/3 finger bubble for the centre of the face and go up to the twist between the ears, make another 2/3 finger bubble. pull this tightly down and around the cheek fold twists. Pink Panther has a rather flat head so this bubble if made smaller will pull the head down if it looks a little tall and large. I have put the ear pinch twists between the ears in these shots but moved them to the side in the final picture shot, decide what you like best and move them about accordingly.

Make a 2 finger pinch twist which pushes the cheeks apart and helps the neck to sit nicer later on, leave a 2/3 finger bubble for the neck.
Use a scrap of yellow, attach to an ear pinch twist, make a 2 finger bubble and twist around the cheek fold twists and then make another
2 finger bubble for the other eye and attach to the other ear pinch twist.

Stretch this balloon before you inflate it and again once again when inflated so that you end up with a good size tail.
Inflate the next Pink 260, leave 2/3 fingers un-inflated, twist a 7 finger body bubble and a 2 finger pinch twist, twist the bottom of the neck into this pinch twist.
The arms will attach here later.
Twist another 7 finger bubble and tie the knot end of the balloon into this twist.

Then make to further 7 finger bubbles to make a four bubble body section, the remainder of the balloon is the tail.
Inflate another Pink 260, leave 3 fingers un-inflated, stretch the balloon, make a 1 finger bubble and three 2 finger bubbles, (although mine maybe a 2 finger 3 finger and 2 finger bubble) twist the first and fourth twist together to make a hand and push the first 1 finger bubble through the centre to lock it in place so the hand will not un twist. The arm is approx a 16 finger,
four hand width bubble followed by a 2 finger pinch twist. Repeat the arm and hand for the other side with the same balloon.
Attach the pinch twist on the arms around the pinch twist between the neck and body of Pink Panther.

For the legs inflate a Pink 260 leaving a 4 finger section un-inflated, make a 4/5 finger bubble followed by a 2 finger pinch twist. Then another 4/5 finger bubble and a second pinch twist, wrap the knot end of the balloon into the second pinch twist.

Make another 4/5 finger bubble and twist into the first pinch twist, where the balloon is tied up I normally have enough slack at the knot end to run this all the way back to the other pinch twist, so securing it tightly into place (from the front of the foot pinch twist to the two pinch twists at the back of the foot) I then make another 2 finger pinch twist which helps the leg and foot sit correctly in place. Size the leg accordingly, mine is approx a 20 finger, five hand width bubble, you then need two 2 finger pinch twists to finish the first leg. Make a second foot and leg but do not make the final two pinch twists, just measure the leg the same as the first one, discard the remaider of the balloon and tie this into the pinch twists on the first leg.
Wrap these pinch twists into the lower body section where the tail is secured.

Whiskers, just put a puff of air into the 260, tie it off. I then push the air down into the balloon and only use about 75% of the balloon for the whiskers.
I also like to put a knot at the other end of the 260 so all ends have a knot.

The nose is a 2 finger bubble tied loosly to give a rounded effect, I use a Purple Violet. I also add a Rose 260 into the front chest area to give a contrast.

There is also a slight variation Pink Panther on this link with different colour hand/arms and legs/feet, pink-panther-t4921.html?hilit=pink (http://balloonchat.co.uk/pink-panther-t4921.html?hilit=pink)

I put a back view as it may help when making, if you do have a go please post your efforts, any problems with the instructions then please ask away.

Ok, here is my effort.  I felt so badly that no one else had used your instructions (which are very good by the way) that I figured I would try.  It's not great but it works!

Don't worry I'm used to there being little involvement, that is why I stopped the model of the month a while back and Kenny was so surprised to see it back again after he sorted out his internet connection. It would be nice to see a few more post their efforts but I will plod along with model of the month at least till the end of the year.

And thanks for posting your effort  :D  :D
