Title: May Competition (Tweety)
Post by: Graham Lee on April 28, 2016, 12:46:33 PM
It was a close call between the Owl and Tweety this month, we decided to go with Tweety.
Perhaps the Owl's will make it for June?

So the complimentary balloon packs will be sent out with all order for May,
if you make and post the model here then all entries go into the hat on the 8th June to win a balloon modelling DVD.

Please don't worry if you are not a customer, just join in for fun and I hope the design is of help.

We are all ready to post the instructions, pictures taken, all resized.
Just need a few minutes to write all the details up, I think this is the most balloons we have added to the bags.
Mind you there are 5 just as spares. Will try to post the instructions up tomorrow.

Here we go then, Tweety Pie..............mark two as I did explain one way back in 2008,
This is the link for the old one that uses more 260's, may-model-the-month-tweety-pie-t192.html (http://balloonchat.co.uk/may-model-the-month-tweety-pie-t192.html)

Inflate the yellow 350 leaving 5 fingers un-inflated, make a 5 finger bubble followed by a 2 finger pinch twist,
this is where the legs will attach later.

Make another 5 finger bubble and tie the knot of the balloon around here.

Before I make these I give the balloon a gentle squeeze to make the balloon a little softer.

You now need to make the cheeks, twist between a 4/5 finger fold twist.

Make another 4/5 finger fold twist and twist around the first one.

You should have approx. a 12 finger bubble left. Push the air to the end of the 350 and make a 2 finger bubble.
This is twisted around the two fold twist, the bubble sits at the back of the head to keep everything square.

Inflate a yellow 260 leaving approx. 6 fingers un-inflated, the white 260 only needs to be inflated about 10 fingers in length.

Tie them together and then make a 4 finger bubble in the yellow 260 followed by a 3 finger pinch twist
followed by another 4 finger bubble and twist together.

The eyes, make a 4 finger bubble in the white and twist around the pinch twist and then make
another 4 finger bubble for the other eye and twist into place.

You now need to attach the eyes/back of head to the main body and outer head 350 section
As in the picture you slide the two inflated balloons below the fold twists and the twisted section above the top fold twist section.
Wrap the inflated balloons around the fold twists to keep all securely in place.

Push the inner head section into the 350, it should be a nice snug fit.

Discard the white 260 balloon.

Then make a small 1 finger bubble in the yellow 260 this acts as a spacer bubble from the checks to the wings.
To make the wings twist a 4 finger and 3 finger bubble,
twist this around the 1 finger spacer bubble, this is one side of the wing.

Now do the same again for the other wing, twist a 4 finger and 3 finger bubble.
Deflate the rest of the balloon, I usually pull the deflated balloon through the centre of each of
the two wings to keep everything in place and to stop the wings from un twisting.

Now push one set of wings through the 350 body to sit into place.

Beak.
You could make the beak with a 3 finger and 2 finger bubble and attach it separately to the head.
I attach the orange 260 and leave 7 fingers un-inflated,
then make a 3 finger and 2 finger bubble and wrap the balloon into the fold twists of the yellow 350.

I then break off the orange 260 and re-tie to carry on with the legs.

You could cut a quarter of the balloon off before you start so you did not have to break the beak balloon half way through
and inflate the two separate pieces.

Legs.
Make two 2 finger bubbles and then twist into two pinch twists, the legs I do rather short, a 3 finger bubble.
Twist this into the yellow 350 pinch twist.

You then need another 3 finger bubble for the other leg and two 2 finger bubbles that again are made into pinch twists.

Inflate an orange 350 and leave 3 fingers un-inflated, attach onto one of the two sets of pinch twists
and make an 8 finger bubble.

Make another 8 finger bubble and twist back into the pinch twists.

I then make a 2/3 finger spacer bubble for between the feet,
attach the other side of the space bubble to the other two pinch twists on the other leg.
Make another 8 finger twist.

Make the second 8 finger bubble and twist into the pinch twists.
Deflate and discard the rest of the orange 350 balloon.

Then onto making the perch, inflate two 260 mocha balloons and leave 2/3 fingers un-inflated.

I have made the perch separately so it was easier to take pictures but it's easier to make when
you attach the two mocha 260's straight to the pinch twist on the yellow 350.

So attach both balloons to the bottom yellow 350 pinch twist,
you then need to make two 2 finger bubbles.

Then twist them into two pinch twists.
These are needed to hold tweety correctly on the perch as he is rather heavy.

Make a 6 finger bubble followed by a 2 finger pinch twist in both 260 mocha balloons.

Then measure up so you have two 20 finger bubbles (five hands) for either side of the perch and twist
them together and lock into place.

The balloon with the less air in, push the air to the end and make a 2 finger bubble,
twist this around the top of the side of the perch twists.

Split the bubble into two and then take the centre around the top of the side of the perch twists,
on mine I ended up here with two 4 finger fold twists.

Then push the air to the end of the other 260 mocha, make a 2 finger bubble and attach around the fold twists.
This will be the handle for the perch. Adjust so it looks similar to the picture.

If you are attaching at this point the perch to Tweety it's quite difficult,
that is why I would suggest making the perch the other way, when it's attached to the yellow pinch twist first.

Add some artwork.

I added a little more white for the eyes but artwork is not my strong point.

Please post away if you do make it and any problems with the instructions then please ask away.

I struggled a bit inserting the eyes, I think I made the body a bit too big which in turn made the head loop too small. Overall a nice design and with a bit of practice I think I could do a better job.
