September Model of the Month (Car)
« on: August 29, 2020, 03:57:03 PM »
I went with the Car as model of the month. It was a choice between the Car, a Princess or a Panda.
There are a few Panda and Princess designs but not too many Car tutorials at the moment.

There is a thread here on Balloon Chat about how the car came about, I'm still adding pictures to the thread at the moment.

Here we go then with the instructions for the Car.

Before Inflating the Red 260 leaving 7 fingers un-inflated pre-stretch the balloon.
Pull the balloon all the way through your thumb and finger, this will make the balloon 3/4 fingers longer in length.

Make a 4 finger bubble, then a 6 finger bubble and then a 2 finger pinch twist.
Tie the knot of the balloon securely around the pinch twist.

Make a 2 finger bubble followed by another 2 finger pinch twist.

Make another 4 finger bubble and a 6 finger bubble and tie back into the second pinch twist/
This will be the front of the Car.

You then need a 4 finger bubble and another 2 finger pinch twist.
Then a 3 finger bubble and another 2 finger pinch twists.

Then another 4 finger bubble tied into the very first pinch twist you made on the Car.

From the rest of the balloon you need two 4 finger bubbles that will be twisted into the back pinch twists.

Inflate the next 260, pre-stretch as the first 260 and leaving 7 fingers un-inflated.

Tie this balloon onto one of the front pinch twists,
then make a 2 finger bubble and twist the balloon into the other front pinch twist.

You then need a 4 finger bubble twisted into the rear pinch twist so you have two 4 finger bubbles now for the door section of the Car

Make a 3 finger, 2 finger and 3 finger bubble and twist back into the same pinch twist for one side of the rear of the Car.

Then make a 2 finger bubble and twist the balloon into the other rear pinch twist and then make
another 3 finger, 2 finger and 3 finger bubble for the other side of the rear of the Car.

You then need to make the roof of the Car. Make a 4 finger bubble for the side of the roof (Twist A)
and then twist a second 4 finger bubble that will be one part of the top of the roof into
the top of the upside down V section on the other side of the Car.

Make another 4 finger bubble for the other top section of the roof and twist this back into (Twist A) that is mentioned above.

You then need a 4 finger bubble for the front side roof section that is twisted into the front pinch twist.

Then the last 4 finger bubble twisted into the rear pinch twist for the second bubble of the side of the door.

Your Car hopefully will be looking like this?

The wheels you can get from one 350 Black, I inflated this with one stroke of the Green Qualatex pump, approx 7 fingers.

Split this into two and tie a loose knot so the balloon looks more round than pinch twist shape for the first wheel.
You then need some un-inflated balloon before you make the second wheel so there is some slack to stretch across
the body of the Car. When the wheels are pulled apart you need at least a 3 finger bubble of stretched balloon.

Push one of the wheels through the 4 finger and 6 finger bubbles at the front of the Car.
Do the same with the second wheel.

Make the rear wheels the same size as the front and push one of the wheels through the 3 finger, 2 finger,
3 finger bubble section. This is a tight fit and you need to gently persuade the wheels through.

If making the Car a lot you may want to make the wheels first so you can build
the rear section of the car around the wheels to avoid this tight fit.

The Car with all wheels fitted.

The underside of the Car should look like this.

Now for the 160 Red, again pre stretch the balloon, inflate leaving 6 fingers un-inflated.
Attach this to one of the front pinch twists.

Make a 5 finger bubble and twist the 160 to the other front pinch twist.
Then make a 4 finger bubble and twist this into the rear door pinch twist.

You then need between a 4/5 finger bubble and twist this into the pinch twist behind the rear wheel.

Then a 4/5 finger bubble to match the one you made earlier on the other side that is twisted into the rear door pinch twist.

Then a 4 finger bubble twisted into the pinch twist at the front of the door.

You then need to make between a 6/7 finger bubble to cover the front wheel followed by a 1.5 finger pinch twist.
