I thought I would try some of the smaller sculptures from Don Caldwells CD's ths morning, and in doing so, came across the dreaded Frumple twist.

WOW.....My fingers hurt so much !!!!  Am I a bit of of a wimp, or is this really difficult to do ????

Anyway, I percevered, and these are the models I made....Hope you like them  :D  :D
Kind regards
Kevin

Hi Phoenix, Is that a frumple twist? I thought a frumple twist was where you put the knot of the balloon inside and attached to the side, so a sideways tulip/apple twist. The first model still has the knot showing, maybe I have this wrong? who knows and it does not really matter as all the models look very nice, I must get to have a look at Don's DVD set. It's sitting on my desk but as yet I have not looked at any of them.

Hi Graham, If you do get a bit of time, there is some fantastic stuff on the DVD's  :D  :D

Don calls it a frumple twist, so who am I to argue  ;) . On these models it is the knot of what you are attatching that goes inside the balloon heart and to the opposite side (ie the knot at the base of the eye structure on the puppy )

Anyhow it is pretty tricky, and flippin' hurts my fingers !!!!!

A nice thing on one of his models, he mentions Lovely Thelma Levett as an inspiration  :D  :D  :D

Just re-made the Shark. Something was nigling me a bit with it ,so I made the tail with a section between the main body, and end fins, and I think it looks better.

Frumple twists are getting easier Yahhhhhaaa  :D  :D  :D

All your sculptures are very very nice. I don't know what a frumple twist is (unfortunately I' among the unfortunates who didn't buy Don Caldwell's DVD) anyway, as you say Don mentions Thelma as an inspiration I think it may refer to her Dog from round metric contained in her DVD Something for everyone.
Bye :D

I love what you have made, well done!

I tried to Frumple twist twice now (the second after being inspired by this post) but both times I could not manage it, sore fingers, popped balloons. Is there a secret or something I am not doing right? I have followed the advice I have seen on the internet!

I bought great shoes at Zalando
Pop-a-lot!

Hi Luftballoon,

It gets easier with more practice.  :D

Make sure you have a decent bit of a tail on the balloon you are pushing in. and a big knot to grab hold of

No sharp fingernails

Keep the balloon soft, very soft
Kind regards
