On Thursday I was asked to do some black and white balloons for an adult's birthday party.   I did four columns based on the palm tree technique.  I brought the column down to a tip at the base instead of putting it onto a wide base to stabilise it.  This is because I wanted it to spin when people touched it rather than being static.   The round balloons on top were filled with helium so that the column stood up.  It was all fine till the children discovered that the columns were very,  very bouncy.  When I left they were giving the balloons a good test run.  I wonder if they will last the night.

I had another decor job at the Bistro this Sunday.  Again I had the challenge of the high ceiling.  I wented to bring the ceiling decor down so that people would actually see it.  So I did floating columns.  They sat on the ceiling.  Later in the evening a few of them did come down.  I didnt put helium in all the balloons worrying about them just going sideways.  But on reflection because there were a lot more helium balloons at the top end I think I need not have worried about that.  It was understood this was an experiment on my part and I had made them so that if any of them did come down they would stand on the floor as normal columns and still add to the decor.  So it wasn't a disaster.  This place is great for me to try things out.

I was asked to do hearts with helium for 10 tables.  I didn't want to just the usual weights for these but was not sure what I was going to do.  So I had a walk round a store and saw some battery lights.  They have a magnet in the base and take three AAA batteries.  I got cheap ones because I only needed them to stay lit for 6 hours.  I put each light inside a round balloon and attached the heart balloons to the round.  When the lights were turned down they looked great.  The photo isnt good because of course I could not use a flash to show it.
