Thanks, I had a very good master in the person of John.  ;)

Ken's Mrs Santa is really great, although I will use that knowledge to make even princesses.
Here in Hungary we don't think that Santa has wife... (Oh, how lucky :lol: )

For our village Christmas Tree Festival I decided to make a tree from balloons (just to be different), and it was indeed the only balloon tree!
In preparation, I scanned the forums, gallery etc and got some really great ideas.  In particular I really liked Thelma's snowmen for decoration, and Twistina's fairy. And Graham advised on how to make a nice box for it to stand in.
The tree is 4-feet tall and self-standing.
I was really pleased with the finished result, but know I can do a better job next time.
It was voted the "Most popular tree - 2011"  :D

I'm not sure if I should place this in Christmas balloons, headbands, or Christmas tree challenge.  :)

Quote from: "crazychris"I don't have time now, but sometime over the weekend I'll post pictures so that folks can offer suggestions if they wish.

Opps!  I never did post those prototypes.  So, instead, I'll post the four designs the customer approved.

Angel Table Centrepiece

Snowman Table Centrepiece

Santa Table Centrepiece

Rudolph Table Centrepiece

Design inspirations were provided by Twistina (Angel), Patrick Van De Ven (Santa), Bonnie Davis (Rudolph & Snowman), Beating (Rudolph), and many others who have inspired me over the years.  Thanks to you all for your inspiration!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Hi All,

This is my Christmas version of the first model I have made from the Buster Balloon DVD collection.

I still find 646's so difficult to work with, but so worth persevering with  :D
Kind regards

I suppose I shall throw my hat in the ring. This was made for a wreath decorating contest. I will probably lose seeing as I did not actually use a wreath.

Thanks in part to Mr. Dave who I can see inspired a few other grinches here. I don't know how he did his but I liked the lines.

@hyper1234,

I had a request for Rudolph at a long-line event. I remembered your post but couldn't quite remember the exact bubble arrangement. I ended up making a version of your reindeer.

I left the upper ears off, this left enough brown balloon to be the handle of the puppet (puppet, n. fancy way of saying "head on a stick"). For the antlers/eyes, I used an Ivory Silk or White 260. Start with the end of the antler, 4" bubble, 1" pinch, shape a 10" bubble, connect to the pinch twist at the top of the head, make the two eyes and duplicate the antler for the other side.

It was a really simple, 2 balloon + nose scrap, reindeer.

Thanks for the inspiration.

I did have a kid ask for one with legs, I made the head much smaller but the same design. I used a 160 white for the anters/eyes. I used the extra white to go from the neck across the belly and make a white tail.

@seanmcd51,

Glad you like the Rudolph. I altered a simple dog-head design and added the antlers and the red nose, so nothing fancy and should be easy to make. I did tried to make one with full body, but I haven't got the legs right yet and it's look kind of deformed. Will keep on trying.

@facefantastic,

Thanks, glad you like them. There's nothing special for the santa/elf hat. The santa head is the base human head design, then I use a red color 260 to at the top part, the arrangement for the red color 260 is one 4"-5" bubble (tight between the ears), 2" bubble, a scrap white (the white ball on the tip of the head), 2" bubble. I hope I described it properly. If still problem I can see if I can post a picture of it.

This is also my first time using Hi-Float with my twisted items, and the wreaths are still pretty filled and in shape 6 days after. I love Hi-Float.

I have never ever done any decor work, but I found a great blog by Sue Bowler, and that, combined with a clear out sale Graham was having on round balloons prompted me to have a go.

Using Sue's Video Tutorial to help, this is what I made. There are a few changes I would make on the next one, but I enjoyed the challenge of trying something new.  :D  :D  :D
Kind regards
