OK, I admit it.  I was just showing off a bit while making the tiger lilies and this vase.  The vase turned out to be one of the scariest designs I've ever worked on because it held about a quart of water.  

Water, balloons, and my cat are not a good combination so as soon as this first pic was taken I dismantled the vase with water.  Then I found that the vase made without the water in it couldn't support the flowers.  

So I made a 3rd vase.  The most flattering thing I can say about that vase is that it was functional.  I also discovered that I couldn't make the stem of the flower longer in order to 'fit' in with the new vase because the weight of the flowers over powered the joints.  I ended up just giving each flower head it's own stem.  I wasn't pleased with the effect but sometimes you just have to compromise (or start all over and weave a new vase  :lol: )

What I discovered after making these irises is that color really matters.  the periwinkle just didn't work.  They should have been made in lilac, yellow, or white and lilac.  Because the color was off, these flowers didn't make for a pretty arrangement.

These are great; I especially like the fuchsia & yellow (pink01). So from a negative comes a fantastic positive, it's all about Karma.

The vase for the roses is the most practical one for larger arrangements I've done to date.  It's sturdy, pleasing to the eye, and doesn't need added weights even when you stuff it with 18 roses (plus filler balloons).

Glad you all liked the flower arrangements.  I hadn't planned on making a flowers CD but judging from the amount of messages in my inbox I guess I better rethink that.  

I won't get to work on it until at least April though.  Right now I'm working on designs I will be teaching at the GOT Class mini convention at the end of March.  I already have all the designs ready for the first class but still need at least 5 more to round out the second one.  I guess I better get busy so that I have time to test out the new stuff before I teach it. lol

Its Thanksgiving eve... the day before the BIGGEST shopping day in USA... little ole me... sleeping bag, tent, balloons of course... sitting patiently waiting at Bonnie's front door for this CD/DVD to hit the market.. lol

Delivery for tomorrow - just getting into weaving more than before, so the basket is a learning experience.
