I don't often get time to play about with balloons as much as I'd like to lately, so I decided to put a day by and have a play and some fun.
I made the rose in June 2007 for the millennium jam, it was my entry for the one balloon competition. I like the three tone effect with the leaves, it took me ages to paint them on  :(  So from this being under glass we had a play with getting some other designs inside of the clear balloons in the next post. Not sure who was the first to come up with this? maybe Patrick Brown??

they look great Graham!  I especially like the purple one...I like how you made the inflated flower with an uninflated stem.  It looks very nice.  The fantasy flowers are beautiful.
Have a happy day <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=\":-)\" title=\"Smile\" />

Are fantasy flowers done with wire etc that are put inside the balloon to distort and shape?
The flower above is just a balloon folded origami style with nothing inside.

Graham, your fantasy flowers are pretty darn cool! And yes, I would consider them in the 'fantasy' category.

Even though having wire in the un-inflated balloons to distort the shape is probably the most recognized way to make the flowers, folding just the balloon is also included in the fantasy category.  You can even combine the two techniques like when you fold the centers of the flowers (roses) then use the wire in the outer petals.  This lessons the overal weight of the flower head and helps give the appearance of many more petals.  It all makes for some very lovely, long lasting designs.

Happy twisting,
